Excerpt from The Mirror of Oxford Within the past few years so much has written, and excellently written, about Oxford and its colleges, by minor historians, that another new book on the same subject may well expect to be challenged to give the raison detre of its existence. Much indeed has been written, but it has all been written to harmonise with the Protestant tradition. In the otherwise admirable guides to Oxford already existing, this is conspicuously the case.
