Category : Forest reserves
Languages : en
Pages : 41
Book Description
"The eight alternatives considered in the development of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) are described and evaluated. These alternatives represent possible ways of managing of oil and gas leasing on the 1,003,320 acres that were legally available for leasing analysis. These lands are located in northwest Wyoming. The alternatives are: (A) lease with standard lease terms only; (B) lease with standard lease terms and minimal additional constraints for water quality and wildlife; (C) lease with standard lease terms and moderate additional constraints for water quality, wildlife, and recreation; (D) proposed action - continuation of direction provided by existing Forest Plain - also the "no action" alternative; (E) lease with a primary emphasis on wildlife protection and maintain existing Forest Plan direction to protect soil and water, and recreation; (F) lease to maintain existing Forest Plan direction with additional emphasis on protecting wildlife and recreation; (G) minimize the risk of impacts to all wildlife, soil and water, visual quality and recreation; (H) no lease of administratively available lands. Potential effects of these alternatives are disclosed in the DEIS. The analysis was conducted for the purpose of making a decision on what lands will be available for leasing, and what conditions will be attached to leases. The Forest Service has no preferred alternative at this time."--Preliminary page [1]
