Book Description
Excerpt from The Blue Book: A Comprehensive Official Souvenir View Book of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition at San Francisco, 1915 The panorama of the Fine Arts Rotunda and colonnades in the upper picture is taken from the path that borders the lagoon and connects Administration Avenue with the Avenue of Nations. The charming arrangement of trees, shrubs, bamboo, vines, and owers, that make a perfect picture from every viewpoint. Is shown, and on the extreme right a bit of the lagoon in which eets of lotus and pond lilies are a oat may be glimpsed. This sheet of water mirrors palaces. Wooded islands, and the sculptures that have been placed along its margin in a way never to be forgotten. In the lower picture is an oval basin - an ornamental pool. Set in the lawn north of the Fine Arts Palace. The \vater Sprites placed in the center is as graceful as the curving rim of the breakers, and the Triton Babies on the right as joyful as a song. At the left is the Sun God and Python.\vhich might be said to typify the con ict between material and spiritual. The diminutive size of these adds to the charm of the creations. All are the work of Anna Coleman Ladd and they bear the coveted tablet of prize award. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
