Book Description
Using data recorded by the CLEO-II detector at CESR, they report the first observation of an excited charmed baryon decaying into [Xi]{sub c}°[pi]. The state has mass difference M([Xi]{sub c}°[pi]) = M([Xi]{sub c}°) of 174.3 ± 0.5 ± 1.0 MeV/c2, and a width of

Book Description
Using data recorded by the CLEO-II detector at CESR, we report evidence of a pair of excited charmed baryons, one decaying into[Lambda][sub c][sup+][pi][sup+] and the other into[Lambda][sub c][sup+][pi][sup -]. The doubly charged state has a measured mass difference M([Lambda][sub c][sup+][pi][sup+]) - M([Lambda][sub c][sup+]) of 234.5[+-] 1.1[+-] 0.8 MeV and a width of 17.9[sub -3.2][sup+3.8][+-] 4.0 MeV, and the neutral state has a measured mass difference M([Lambda][sub c][sup+][pi][sup -]) - M([Lambda][sub c][sup+]) of 232.6[+-] 1.0[+-] 0.8 MeV and a width of 13.0[sub -3.0][sup+3.7][+-] 4.0 MeV. We identify these states as[Sigma]*[sub c][sup++] and[Sigma]*[sub c][sup 0], the spin 3/2[sup+] excitations of the[Sigma][sub c] baryons.

Book Description
The purpose of this meeting, as with the six previous conferences in this series, was to bring together particle and nuclear physicists to share scientific reports and discuss areas of research which overlap both disciplines. The need for such an interdisciplinary conference was recognized by Alan D. Krisch and Malcolm H. MacFarlane, founding fathers of the CIPANP series. Its relevance has steadily grown as the areas of overlap between particle and nuclear physics have increased. In addition, the success of the standard model has provided a common underpinning for both disciplines as well as similar fundamental goals. Indeed, Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) has proven to be "the" theory of strong interactions. As such, it forms the basis for nuclear physics as well as high energy hadronic interactions. Topics included are: QCD spectroscopy and dynamics, relativistic heavy ions, QCD and nuclear structure, lepton-hadron and hadron-hadron scattering, heavy quark and heavy lepton physics, spin physics, nuclear and particle astrophysics, neutrinos, accelerators, facilities and detectors, as well as tests of fundamental symmetries.

Book Description
We report on the observation of a narrow resonance at a mass of 2450 MeV/c2 in the final states .lambda. K−.pi./sup +/.pi./sup +/ and .sigma.°K−.pi./sup +/.pi./sup +/. The mass, width, lifetime, and decay modes support the interpretation of a hadronically produced charm-strange baryon, the .xi./sub c//sup +/. We present our preliminary measurements of the lifetime, and the .lambda., x/sub feynman, / and p/sub t/ dependence of the state.

Book Description
Recent results on observations, properties and decay modes of the charmed and beauty baryons will be reviewed. Candidates for several new high mass states which include a cleanly-identified daughter [Lambda]{sub c} baryon are seen in data from the SELEX experiment at Fermilab. These states are candidates for doubly-charmed baryons: a [Xi]{sub cc}{sup ++} state and a [Xi]{sub cc} state. These candidates are more than 5[sigma] signals in each case at masses of 3520 and 3460 MeV respectively.
