Book Description
EXPLAINABLE MACHINE LEARNING MODELS AND ARCHITECTURES This cutting-edge new volume covers the hardware architecture implementation, the software implementation approach, and the efficient hardware of machine learning applications. Machine learning and deep learning modules are now an integral part of many smart and automated systems where signal processing is performed at different levels. Signal processing in the form of text, images, or video needs large data computational operations at the desired data rate and accuracy. Large data requires more use of integrated circuit (IC) area with embedded bulk memories that further lead to more IC area. Trade-offs between power consumption, delay and IC area are always a concern of designers and researchers. New hardware architectures and accelerators are needed to explore and experiment with efficient machine-learning models. Many real-time applications like the processing of biomedical data in healthcare, smart transportation, satellite image analysis, and IoT-enabled systems have a lot of scope for improvements in terms of accuracy, speed, computational powers, and overall power consumption. This book deals with the efficient machine and deep learning models that support high-speed processors with reconfigurable architectures like graphic processing units (GPUs) and field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), or any hybrid system. Whether for the veteran engineer or scientist working in the field or laboratory, or the student or academic, this is a must-have for any library.

Book Description
Hybrid System Identification helps readers to build mathematical models of dynamical systems switching between different operating modes, from their experimental observations. It provides an overview of the interaction between system identification, machine learning and pattern recognition fields in explaining and analysing hybrid system identification. It emphasises the optimization and computational complexity issues that lie at the core of the problems considered and sets them aside from standard system identification problems. The book presents practical methods that leverage this complexity, as well as a broad view of state-of-the-art machine learning methods. The authors illustrate the key technical points using examples and figures to help the reader understand the material. The book includes an in-depth discussion and computational analysis of hybrid system identification problems, moving from the basic questions of the definition of hybrid systems and system identification to methods of hybrid system identification and the estimation of switched linear/affine and piecewise affine models. The authors also give an overview of the various applications of hybrid systems, discuss the connections to other fields, and describe more advanced material on recursive, state-space and nonlinear hybrid system identification. Hybrid System Identification includes a detailed exposition of major methods, which allows researchers and practitioners to acquaint themselves rapidly with state-of-the-art tools. The book is also a sound basis for graduate and undergraduate students studying this area of control, as the presentation and form of the book provides the background and coverage necessary for a full understanding of hybrid system identification, whether the reader is initially familiar with system identification related to hybrid systems or not.

Book Description
This book aims at updating the relevant computer science-related research communities, including professors, researchers, scientists, engineers and students, as well as the general reader from other disciplines, on the most recent advances in applications of methods based on Fusing Machine Learning Paradigms. Integrated or Hybrid Machine Learning methodologies combine together two or more Machine Learning approaches achieving higher performance and better efficiency when compared to those of their constituent components and promising major impact in science, technology and the society. The book consists of an editorial note and an additional eight chapters and is organized into two parts, namely: (i) Recent Application Areas of Fusion of Machine Learning Paradigms and (ii) Applications that can clearly benefit from Fusion of Machine Learning Paradigms. This book is directed toward professors, researchers, scientists, engineers and students in Machine Learning-related disciplines, as the hybridism presented, and the case studies described provide researchers with successful approaches and initiatives to efficiently address complex classification or regression problems. It is also directed toward readers who come from other disciplines, including Engineering, Medicine or Education Sciences, and are interested in becoming versed in some of the most recent Machine Learning-based technologies. Extensive lists of bibliographic references at the end of each chapter guide the readers to probe further into the application areas of interest to them.

Book Description
This Book discusses machine learning for model order reduction, which can be used in modern VLSI design to predict the behavior of an electronic circuit, via mathematical models that predict behavior. The author describes techniques to reduce significantly the time required for simulations involving large-scale ordinary differential equations, which sometimes take several days or even weeks. This method is called model order reduction (MOR), which reduces the complexity of the original large system and generates a reduced-order model (ROM) to represent the original one. Readers will gain in-depth knowledge of machine learning and model order reduction concepts, the tradeoffs involved with using various algorithms, and how to apply the techniques presented to circuit simulations and numerical analysis. Introduces machine learning algorithms at the architecture level and the algorithm levels of abstraction; Describes new, hybrid solutions for model order reduction; Presents machine learning algorithms in depth, but simply; Uses real, industrial applications to verify algorithms.

Book Description
Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2017 in the subject Engineering - Computer Engineering, grade: 100.00/100.00, Çukurova University, language: English, abstract: The purpose of this thesis is twofold. The first purpose is to develop new hybrid feature selection-based maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) prediction models using for the first time the double and triple combinations of maximal, submaximal and questionnaire variables. Several machine learning methods including Support Vector Machine, artificial neural network-based and tree-structured methods combined individually with three feature selectors Relief-F, minimum redundancy maximum relevance (mRMR) and maximum-likelihood feature selector (MLFS) have been applied for model development. The second purpose is to design a new ensemble feature selector, which aggregates the consensus properties of Relief-F, mRMR and MLFS to produce more robust decisions about the set of relevantly identified VO2max predictors and to create more accurate prediction models. Using 10-fold cross validation on three different datasets, the performance of prediction models has been evaluated by calculating their multiple correlation coefficients (R’s) and root mean squared errors (RMSE’s). The results show that compared with the results of the other regular feature selection-based models in literature, the reported values of R and RMSE of the hybrid models in this thesis are considerably more accurate. Furthermore, prediction models based on the proposed ensemble feature selector outperform the models created by individually using the Relief-F, mRMR or MLFS, achieving similar or ideally up to 12.46% lower error rates on the average.
