Book Description
The Babbidge Reservoir Dam is a 38-foot-high earth embankment with a reinforced concrete corewall. There is a 36-foot-long concrete overflow spillway at the left abutment and a gatehouse at the crest which controls flow from the reservoir and from the Quarry Dam upstream. It is small in size with a high hazard potential. Significant economic loss and possible loss of more than a few lives could result from the event of a dam failure. With stoplogs, the spillway is capable of passing 9% of the test flood. The dam is in fair condition. Remedial measures should be undertaken by the owner. Keywords include: Inspection, Dam safety, Connecticut River Basin, Roxbury, New Hampshire, and Roaring Brook.
