Stitch, Fabric & Thread
Author: Elizabeth Healey
Publisher: SearchPress+ORM
ISBN: 178126693X
Category : Crafts & Hobbies
Languages : en
Pages : 166
Book Description
A beautiful sewing reference guide full of exercises designed to inspire great ideas and motivate readers of all skill levels to create. This inventive book is a treasure trove of over 40 inspiring practical exercises, a rich and creative exploration of fabric and stitch, and a fascinating all-round read. Elizabeth Healey’s approach to sewing is that it should be fun, and not like a chore or an exam we need to excel in. Her aim is to simply encourage you to pick up a needle and thread and get sewing! The exercises draw inspiration from around the world: create corded works of art inspired by Milton Glaser’s iconic Bob Dylan poster; craft bold embroidered African masks; layer up and cut away to make Mola applique; use bleach and fabric paint to create Aboriginal dreamtime lizards; create knotted works of art inspired by ancient Mayan counting systems; embroider varsity cross-stitch letters; or try out decorative Japanese book binding. Alternatively, try a host of other techniques such as quilting, printing, dyeing, couching tumbled crockery, creating pleats and puckers, and needle lace. Packed with stitch galleries and bursting with slow sewing ideas, the book also contains “behind the stitches” features: illuminating insights into sewing movements such as Boro textiles, Gee’s Bend quilting, and Dorset buttons.

Desperate Situation
Author: Kyle Ripton
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1483663175
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 450
Book Description
Based on actual events, Casey plots to murder her husband, a soldier, for more than insurance money with the help of family. Fighting for his life, Thomas battles the relentless hatred of not only a black widow woman, but also a hidden family of black widows. What other hidden secrets could be lye inside the belly of the beast? Action packed, this story, based on actual events will make it all too difficult to put this book down aside from turning your stomach upside down over its remarkable content. For generations, women have been depicted as a delicate flower, incapable of equaling a mans strong, secure, outer structure a womans desires. Fast forwarding into the modern age, the feminist movement have campaigned for reforms on issues such as reproductive rights, domestic violence, maternity leave, equal pay, women's suffrage, sexual harassment, and sexual violence, all of which fall under the label of feminism. Now pushing for financial, social and cultural inequalities, men are still being subjected to the already well-known power women have had and harnessed for centuries. Over these centuries women have still maintained their focus on women's reproductive rights. Short of what this project is all about. I am focusing this campaign on what effects a mans outer glass shell, broken repeatedly as a result of unseen, unheard, or ignored pleas for equivalent laws that dramatically effect what happens to the male during divorce, domestic violence, abandonment of the male figure, and affecting the very core of his inner soul. As times change, little do the laws or the acknowledgement of men who are now coming forward with their own stories of sexual, verbal, emotional, and in many cases physical abuse by women, who remain the innocent ones. At the present time we are in post-production of the full-feature film based off this novel. Published in 2012, I feel this would be another amazing speaking point to those around the world who choose a visual experience over reading.

I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die
Author: Sarah J. Robinson
Publisher: WaterBrook
ISBN: 0593193539
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 257
Book Description
A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.
