Book Description
Tarik Amin Clayton, a/k/a The Poet Amin was born in New Britain, CT. He comes from a loving family and is the youngest of six siblings. The Poet Amin grew up in a fairly rough neighborhood on New Britain's north side of town. This is where his journey of writing began. The Poet Amin suffers from mental illness, in particular major depression, and started drinking and abusing drugs at a very young age. He was in and out of prison for possession charges, but the poet never lost his vision. The poet now lives drug and alcohol free since June 3, 2009.Life, Hell & Heaven is his own personal story, which confronts the pain of being trapped in hell. Before you enter into the "Heaven" part of this book, it begins with the poem "Welcome." You will then start traveling into this "One World of Poetry." As he prepares you for future book titles to come, Life, Hell & Heaven is the foundation and is guaranteed to bring an understanding to those who may not know its roots of destruction. Looking in from the outside, but hearing about it from the horse's mouth is another thing; this man has been there and done that! He says to all active addicts that there is a better way. He thanks God every day for his divine talent and being able to express himself and help others in his own creative way.The Poet Amin runs a poetry venue in New Britain at the public library where he and others meet once a month and read openly to the public, but mostly to one another. As an end note, for many years the Poet could not read or write, and he memorized his poems and had friends write his words down. Growing tired of this process, The Poet Amin taught himself to read and write, and is currently working on obtaining his GED. Someday, he hopes to be a drug and alcohol counselor for troubled teens.

Book Description
"So welcome, readers, to a plurality of poets, a cornucopia of tropes, and a range of interests." -- From Billy Collins's introduction The Best American Poetry series offers a distinguished poet's selection of poems published in the course of a year. The guest editor for 2006 is Billy Collins, one of our most beloved poets, who has chosen poems of wit, humor, imagination, and surprise, in an array of styles and forms. The result is a celebration of the pleasures of poetry -- from Laura Cronk's marvelous "Sestina for the Newly Married" to the elegant limericks of R. S. Gwynn and from Reb Livingston on butter to Mark Halliday's "Refusal to Notice Beautiful Women." In his charming and candid introduction Collins explains how he chose seventy-five poems from among the thousands he considered. With insightful comments from the poets illuminating their work, and series editor David Lehman's thought-provoking foreword, The Best American Poetry 2006 is a brilliant addition to a series that links the most noteworthy verse and prose poems of our time to a readership as discerning as it is devoted to the art of poetry.

Book Description
Set against the cultural and political backdrop of interwar Europe and the Americas, Poetry in Pieces is the first major study of the Peruvian poet Cesar Vallejo (1892-1938) to appear in English in more than thirty years. Vallejo lived and wrote in two distinct settings---Peru and Paris---which were continually crisscrossed by new developments in aesthetics, politics, and practices of everyday life. Michelle Clayton combines close readings of Vallejo's writings with cultural, historical, and theoretical analysis, connecting Vallejo---and Latin American poetry---to the broader panorama of international modernism and the avant-garde, and to writers and artists such as Rainer Maria Rilke, James Joyce, Georges Bataille, and Charlie Chaplin. Poetry in Pieces sheds new light on one of the key figures in twentieth-century Latin American literature, while exploring ways of rethinking the parameters of international lyric modernity.

Book Description
You Don’t Know My Journey I’ve had choices in my life that I had to make, some that didn’t work in my favor, but I never considered them as bad ones, I just took them as a loss and moved on. While going through my journey, it moved slowly and I had to learn patience. I’ve always wanted to do something important, but I knew there were challenges and big steps for acceptance, I started to notice the mouths that would speak around me and had to read the lips that sour the taste of judging words. So I've learned how to block out the negativity. In order to make it work I made some adjustments. My journey started when I first went through something, continuing on was the beginning of my phase. I realized that we make life hard by worrying so much instead of focusing on how to sort a situation. I write my thoughts down when they are strong, not that I would forget, but because they will be useful later. Going through a journey is never an ending because a journey is a lifetime.
