Book Description
However, the second assumption of the revised model regarding strategic consistency in the supply chain was violated in the case study, which had affected the effectiveness and efficiency of the Goldfields' marketing efforts to date. This violation also partly explained why other variables did not provide significant contribution to the prediction in this case study. It also indicated that the supply-side management approaches might greatly determine the complexity of the prediction model of tourist destination choice. The observed suply-side strategic gap was attributed to the commission-oriented marketing and management approaches by the Chinese travel agents and parochialism that is prevalent in the industry and the destination. These findings produced several implications for private and public sector management in terms of the Chinese tourism market to the Goldfields region.
