First, reading reports Of Corresponding Secretaries, - that of New England by Mrs. Latimer, New York by Mrs. Skidmore. St. Louis by Mrs. Prescott, Northwestern by Mrs. Willing, Central by Mrs. Keen, Cincinnati by Mrs. Doughty, Balti more by Miss Hart. These reports were heard with deep interest and after their reading the President proposed, as an expression of the sentiment of the meeting, that all present should unite in sing ing the first and last verses of the hymn All hail the power of Jesus' name. Excerpt from Minutes of the Eighth Annual Meeting of the General Executive Committee of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church: Held in the Centenary M. E. Church, Minneapolis, May, 1877 The session opened at 9 A. M. The devotional exercises. Were Conducted by Mrs. Nind, of the Western Branch. By resolution, the introduction of the missionaries present was made the first order; and Rev. Mr. And Mrs. Hoskins and °miss Sparkes, of India, and Miss Porter, of China, were introduced and spoke feelingly of their work, and of the good providence of God in raising up so efficient an instrumentality as the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society for. Carrying forward our Missionary enterprises; which was followed with prayer by Rev. Mr. Martin of Minneapolis, for the special blessing of God upon his servants, and upon their labors, on their return to their respective fields. Miss Porter. Was assigned a seat with the Western Branch delega tion. Letters were read extending invitations to the delegates to stop at Milwaukee and Evanston, on their return from Minneapolis, and assist in Missionary meetings; and they were referred to a special committee, consisting of Mrs. Taplin and Mrs. Bayliss. A resolution prevailed that the Branches be arranged and called in the order of priority of organization, as follows: New England, New York, Philadelphia, North Western, Western, Cincinnati, Baltimore.
