Here my father resided until about the year 1805, when he removed to a country part of the township of Great Barrington, known as Root Street, to a small farm which he rented. Here, when quite small I attended school kept by my sister, Sarah Jones. The school-house was almost a mile from my father's house, and on the line between Sheffield and Great Barrington townships. Here I obtained the rudiments of my education. [grandfather T.
