Book Description
Measurements of the velocity profiles in the turbulent boundary layer on the upper surface of a wing of semielliptical plan form at an angle of yaw of 25 deg and angles of attack of 12 deg and 14 deg are reported along with pressure distributions. These show considerable spanwise flow near the surface. The chordwise (velocity components inclined 25 deg to the main wind direction) and spanwise boundary layers were calculated. The chordwise velocity profiles are in good agreement with those obtained at the National Bureau of Standards on an unyawed airfoil shape.

Book Description
The objective of the present investigation was to study the interaction of bearing and tensile loads on the creep behavior of joints. To achieve this objective, a simplified model was employed which contained many of the features found in riveted connections. Through the use of this simulated joint, an analysis of complex regions in actual joints could be effected. In the study, results for a number of tensile-to-bearing load ratios were obtained, and the results were analyzed.

Book Description
Six numerical examples are presented for steady, two-dimensional, compressible, nonviscous flow in centrifugal compressors with straight blades. A seventh example is presented for incompressible flow. The solutions also applye to radial-flow turbines with rotation and flow direction reversed. The effects of variations in following parameters were investigated: (1) flow rate, (2) impeller-tip speed, (3) variation of passage height with radius, and (4) number of blades. The numerical results are presented in plots of the streamlines, constant Mach number lines, and constant pressure-ratio lines. Correlation equations are developed whereby the flow conditions in any impeller with straight blades can be determined for all operating conditions.
