In Psychedelic Apes, bestselling author Alex Boese delves into the curious scientific subculture of weird theories. Thoroughly bizarre and contrary to the established norm, these ideas are often vehemently rejected by the intellectual community. From the creation of the universe to the evolution of humans, the birth of civilization right through to our more recent past, Psychedelic Apes explores some of the craziest ideas from science and history and shows that, sometimes, even the weirdest theories may be proved true . . .

Cosmic Apprentice
Author: Dorion Sagan
Publisher: U of Minnesota Press
ISBN: 0816684413
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 315
Book Description
In the pursuit of knowledge, Dorion Sagan argues in this dazzlingly eclectic, rigorously crafted, and deliciously witty collection of essays, scientific authoritarianism and philosophical obscurantism are equally formidable obstacles to discovery. As science has become more specialized and more costly, its questing spirit has been constrained by dogma. And philosophy, perhaps the discipline best placed to question orthodoxy, has retreated behind dense theoretical language and arcane topics of learning. Guided by a capacious, democratic view of science inspired by the examples set by his late parents—Carl Sagan, who popularized the study of the cosmos, and Lynn Margulis, an evolutionary biologist who repeatedly clashed with the scientific establishment—Sagan draws on classical and contemporary philosophy to intervene provocatively in often-charged debates on thermodynamics, linear and nonlinear time, purpose, ethics, the links between language and psychedelic drugs, the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, and the occupation of the human body by microbial others. Informed by a countercultural sensibility, a deep engagement with speculative thought, and a hardheaded scientific skepticism, he advances controversial positions on such seemingly sacrosanct subjects as evolution and entropy. At the same time, he creatively considers a wide range of thinkers, from Socrates to Bataille and Descartes to von Uexküll, to reflect on sex, biopolitics, and the free will of Kermit the Frog. Refreshingly nonconformist and polemically incisive, Cosmic Apprentice challenges readers to reject both dogma and cliché and instead recover the intellectual spirit of adventure that should—and can once again—animate both science and philosophy.

Earth, Man, & Devolution
Author: R. Pilotte
Publisher: Trafford Publishing
ISBN: 1490768998
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 808
Book Description
A Girl on a couch appeared in an electro-magnetically generated cloud and it was deduced to be a vision from the past. UFO’s are seen to appear and disappear out of nowhere and they are presumed to be entering and leaving another dimension. The ancients speak of the Gods descending to earth, and they’re deduced to be spacemen from another galaxy seeding life on earth and helping evolution along. Archaeologists see the pyramids and decide they were built by 200,000 slaves to exacting standards we can’t match today, just to bury a king. People read about world flood legends, look at Mount Everest, say “Impossible”, and decide the legends speak of local floods. Anthropologists see writing start about 5000 years ago and deduce this is evidence of the greatest advancement in the history of mankind. These deductions are all incorrect. Find out what these and other curious tidbits really mean, and how they’ll change your world view forever. Ever wondered where the Noah floodwater went? Find out where it came from and finally...where it went! Radioactive Carbon 14 in our atmosphere isn’t at equilibrium: it forms at a faster rate than it breaks down. Why? And why is that crucial in figuring out the age of the earth? Ever wondered what caused different races? How about Dinosaurs? Find out what killed them... recently, and be prepared for a shock, because they aren’t all dead! One of the plagues of Egypt was the river of blood, but this happened in more places than just Egypt. Find out the cause. This book solves the Bermuda Triangle disappearances, invisibility, the Tower of Babel, frozen wooly mammoths, erratics, massive fossil sites all around the globe, destruction of Mu, and Atlantis. We also figure out the origin, of reincarnation, the underworld, the continents, the seven heavens, pole shifts, the Sumerians, and not just the origin of the gods, we find out who they are! How can one book solve so much? Read: Earth, Man & Devolution. I've created a new cover for my book and added 1/3 more material as well as fully illustrated the book. If you have an older edition feel free to contact me for the 3rd edition updates with new cover and all the illustrations for free. (I'm also the artist for my book)I'm on facebook in Victoria BC under Rick Pilotte Some of the books and authors that helped with some key information were Charles Hapgood; Maps of the Ancient Sea Kings, Immanuel Velikovsky, Earth in Upheaval, Wallace Budge (Book of the dead), The Hollow Earth by Raymond Bernard and many more. You can also see some of my letters published in Atlantis Rising magazine by doing an internet search of my title, or however it's done. (I've had 6 letters published to date)

Theofatalism
Author: Lewis Tagliaferre
Publisher: iUniverse
ISBN: 1475991223
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 558
Book Description
When your world of traditional assumptions is shaken where do you turn for inner peace and personal comfort? Considering Pascals wager, if there is no god and we disbelieve we have lost nothing, but if there is a god and we disbelieve we may have lost everything. But, what if there is no free will and we all must believe whatever we are given? That is the primary question that pushed this author into investigating what the world religions and philosophies taught about the existential puzzle called life. When my traditional faith failed to provide any comfort after untimely death of my wife I began searching for some belief I could live with, and this is what I was given. Many thinking people have rejected the mythical god of the Bible and the Quran but they have not found a suitable substitute. Since there is no proof for or against the existence of God, everyone must be agnostic or atheist if they will admit it. Perhaps it is time to replace the anthropomorphic god with one that really works. Not the god of the Bible or the Quran, but the prime force in the universe: Generator, Operator, Destroyer...G.O.D. The expanded and updated essays in the second edition of this book develop such a new theology.

What is Life? On Earth and Beyond
Author: Andreas Losch
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1316813193
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 337
Book Description
Approaches from the sciences, philosophy and theology, including the emerging field of astrobiology, can provide fresh perspectives to the age-old question 'what is life?'. Has the secret of life been unveiled and is it nothing more than physical chemistry? Modern philosophers will ask if we can even define life at all, as we still don't know much about its origins here on Earth. Others regard life as something that cannot simply be reduced to just physics and chemistry, while biologists emphasize the historical component intrinsic to life on Earth. How can theology constructively interpret scientific findings? Can it contribute constructively to scientific discussions? Written for a broad interdisciplinary audience, this probing volume discusses life, intelligence and more against the background of contemporary biology and the wider contexts of astrobiology and cosmology. It also considers the challenging implications for science and theology if extraterrestrial life is discovered in the future.

The Fourth Source
Author: Robert J. Tuttle
Publisher: Universal-Publishers
ISBN: 1612330770
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 580
Book Description
This book describes how the effects of nature's own nuclear reactors have shaped the Earth, the Solar System, the Universe, and the history of life as we know it. It focuses on observed effects that are poorly explained by our standard theories, identifies certain errors in those theories, and shows how these effects are caused by natural nuclear fission reactors. The theory of Plate Tectonics is wrong, and it is shown that expansion of the Earth causes continental drift. A physically reasonable mechanism is proposed for expansion and observational data are presented to show that this occurs. Evolution is explained as punctuated equilibrium, with mutations caused by abrupt surges of radiation, and related life forms that have been interpreted as seperate species are actually the result of radiation injury. This view is particularly effective as applied to humans. The ability of the dinosaurs to live so large is explained by use of Earth Expansion and a more massive atmosphere to provide buoyancy and effective transpiration of oxygen. These effects also explain how pterodactyls and ancient birds could fly. Expansion induced by impacts at the end of the Cretaceous caused the atmosphere to thin and the dinosaurs collapsed. Analysis of geological and biological data supports this. The astronomical distance scale is shown to be wrong, based on the misconception that trigonometric parallax is an absolute measurement. It isn't, and the method is led astray by the overwhelming number of asteroidal fragments masquerading as stars. The measurements of an expanding Universe are shown to be in error, and an expanding Universe is not needed by an alternative interpretation of Einstein's equations. This interpretation is based on the equal creation of matter and antimatter, which is known to occur. Spiral galaxies are not vast Island Universes of stars as we have thought, but are shown to be the strewn fields of debris from the nuclear fission detonation of distant planets. The Universe is not made up of 96% Dark Matter and Dark Energy, but is instead very ordinary. Abundant evidence and references provide support for all these interpretations. This book opens new opportunities for research by correcting several fundamental errors in our concepts of the Earth, Life, and the Universe.
