Book Description
The Bible speaks of a people who were greatly rejected: the Samaritans. In both the Old and New Testaments the reference to the Samaritans was always marginalized. Jesus emphasized forgiveness and mercy to this people based on parables and their journeys to Samaritan villages. One question that should be answered is? Who are the Samaritans of our day? In an urban context, I think it would be the specific groups (the undergrounds: rockers, rappers, surfers, skaters, urban artists, etc.). Besides these there is a large contingent outside the church s lens: many poor, dependent chemists, prostitutes, homosexuals, foreigners, deaf people, among others ... That are ignored by the local church; perhaps out of prejudice, perhaps out of ignorance and the most likely not to know how to evangelize, welcome, disciple. This book aims to help the Brazilian church as well as urban missions enthusiasts to correctly achieve these segments based on the skate tribe. He is yet another inspiring guide who will help you become a better leader, to develop the ministry with trustworthy ministry to you and your team..

Book Description
From the visual politics of the FRELIMO-liberation script in Mozambique via the brooms and spoons of Le Balai Citoyen in Burkina Faso, to the updating of images from past revolutions on Twitter and Facebook, often in the diaspora – images play a key role in the envisioning of futures and social utopia. And more than that: Revolutions, understood as moments of radical social and cultural change, are driven by images, as empirical investigations on- and offline show. But what actually constitutes the 'seismographic power' of images, and the sustainability of icons from past ruptures in terms of radicalism, such as the portraits of Burkina Faso's and Mozambiques first presidents' Thomas Sankara and Samora Machel? What possibilities do images offer – and what is cut and edited in the process of creating a 'new' image? How do the visual tactics of analogue and digital protesters alike constitute, alter and create visual and multi-media archives? This book brings together a wide range of papers by international researchers and artists focusing on the relationship of images and revolution mostly in the African context. Images in various artistic media such as photography, art in public space, performance, fashion are discussed, but also the relation of visual culture and politics in Mozambique, Angola and Burkina Faso among others. With contributions from: Stefanie Alisch, Petrus Amuthenu, Ana Balona de Oliveira, Ute Fendler, Katharina Fink, Raí Gandra, Goldendean, Jelsen Lee Innocent, Onejoon Che, Luís Carlos Patraquim, Marco Russo, Nadine Siegert, Serubiri Moses, Johan Thom, Drew Thompson, Fabio Vanin, Ulf Vierke

Book Description
William Nylen begins by discussing North Americans' love-hate relationship with politics and politicians, then shows how Brazilians feel the same way (as do many citizens of democracies throughout the world). He argues that this is so because contemporary democracies have increasingly trickled up and away from so-called 'average citizens'. We now live in a world of 'Elitist Democracies' essentially constructed of, by and for moneyed, well-connected and ethically-challenged elites. Fortunately, there are alternatives, and that's where Brazil offers valuable lessons. Experiments in local-level participatory democracy, put into practice in Brazil by the Workers Party show both the promise and the practical limitations of efforts to promote 'popular participation' and citizen empowerment.
