AGARD Flight Test Instrumentation Series. Volume 5. Magnetic Recording of Flight Test Data

Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 80
Book Description
After starting with an assessment of the general requirement for a flight test data acquisition system, following with a general discussion of the complete system, the report is subsequently concerned with some of the more important individual functions of the system--their nature and implementation. The functions selected are those most intimately involved in determining the performance of the system and its efficiency in acquiring the data. In the case of the recording aspects emphasis is placed on the basic recording process, its capabilities and its problems, and on the techniques necessary to overcome its shortcomings. Basic design principles of airborne tape transports and the characteristics of write/read heads and magnetic tape are also discussed. The report concludes with a discussion of the problems involved in specifying a requirement for a flight test data acquisition system and with comments on the likely nature of future systems.

Telemetry Theory and Methods in Flight Test
Author: Tingwu Yang
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 9813347376
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 475
Book Description
This book describes systematically telemetry theory and methods for aircraft in flight test. Test targets of telemetry in flight test include airplanes, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, aerostatics, carrier-based aircraft, airborne equipment (systems), weapon systems, (powered) aircraft scale models, aircraft external stores (e.g., nacelle, auxiliary tanks), and ejection seats and so on. The book collects the author's telemetry research work and presents methods that have been verified in real-world tests. The book has eight chapters: the first three discuss the theoretical basis of telemetry, while the other five focus on the methods used in flight tests.Unlike other professional textbooks, this book describes the practical telemetry theory and combines theory and engineering practice to offer a comprehensive and systematic overview of telemetry in flight test for readers.

Magnetic Recording
Author: Eric D. Daniel
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 9780780347090
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 364
Book Description
"The first magnetic recording device was demonstrated and patentedby the Danish inventor Valdemar Poulsen in 1898. Poulsen made amagnetic recording of his voice on a length of piano wire. MAGNETICRECORDING traces the development of the watershed products and thetechnical breakthroughs in magnetic recording that took placeduring the century from Paulsen's experiment to today's ubiquitousaudio, video, and data recording technologies including taperecorders, video cassette recorders, and computer harddrives. An international author team brings a unique perspective, drawnfrom professional experience, to the history of magnetic recordingapplications. Their key insights shed light on how magneticrecording triumphed over all competing technologies andrevolutionized the music, radio, television and computerindustries. They also show how these developments offeropportunities for applications in the future. MAGNETIC RECORDING features 116 illustrations, including 92photographs of historic magnetic recording machines and theirinventors." Sponsored by: IEEE Magnetics Society
