Book Description
When asked what led him to write To Save the Love That Was Lost. Lyman Allen said, "I wrote because I had to. It was a matter of passion I should say 'guided passion, ' because I found out that I was guided, and so the book is ours, Sofia's and mine. There was a lid on my passion: I wanted to believe that life made more sense than what we experience every day. We function from day to day, yes, but I think a lot of us live with a gut feeling of how life ought to be, and this is backed up, maybe, by a higher sense of that truth. Well I found that there is that truth, and it's in To Save the Love that Was Lost. In fact it's in the title. So, I'm offering an invitation to people to peek out from under that lid and see what they might find. I found the answer that makes sense. "Our book is about the original message of Jesus-Christianity before it was taken over by organized faith (is that a contradiction in terms?) It's about what was intended to work for the world, how we must learn to live. I found that Jesus' lost teachings are supported by religious history of 20-even 26-centuries ago. A lot of those teachings were discovered in 1945, hidden for all that time. They never got tampered with. "The title is from a verse deleted from a famous parable. It's a mission statement about advancing the original Christianity of Jesus-that's the love part-and it relates directly to the fate of our planet. It turns out that my mission was to write a book about these things. The book is, in fact, a spiritual thesis supported by ancient documents, recently discovered. That might be a 'first.'"

Book Description
A gorgeously jacketed hardcover anthology of passionate love poems from around the world and through the ages. It has often been said that love, both sacred and profane, is the only true subject of the lyric poem. Nothing better justifies this claim than the splendid poems in this volume, which range from the writings of ancient China to those of modern-day America and represent, at its most piercing, a universal experience of the human soul. This collection includes poems by John Donne, Christina Rossetti, W. H. Auden, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Robert Graves, e. e. cummings, Dorothy Parker, William Shakespeare, Sappho, Bhartrhari, Anna Akhmatova, and W. B. Yeats, among many others." Everyman's Library pursues the highest production standards, printing on acid-free cream-colored paper, with full-cloth cases with two-color foil stamping, decorative endpapers, silk ribbon markers, European-style half-round spines, and a full-color illustrated jacket

Book Description
An indispensable collection of the groundbreaking poet’s most masterful and innovative work, celebrating a bold early voice of female liberation, independence, and queer sexuality—featuring a new introduction by poet Olivia Gatwood, author of Life of the Party Edna St. Vincent Millay defined a generation as one of the most critically acclaimed poets of the Modernist era. Her work pushed boundaries within the literary canon for its lyrical expression of female embodiment and progressive feminist politics, and she was honored as only the third woman to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry. The Selected Poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay demonstrates Millay’s legacy and influence on contemporary poetry. Sometimes satirical, often sharp, and always striking, the poems in this collection span Millay’s remarkable career, from the success of Renascence and Other Poems to the sting of A Few Figs from Thistles, and Second April, as well as “The Ballad of the Harp-Weaver” and eight sonnets from the early twenties. Millay’s incandescent poetry continues to inspire today as broadly and deeply as during her lifetime. The Modern Library Torchbearers series features women who wrote on their own terms, with boldness, creativity, and a spirit of resistance. AMERICAN INDIAN STORIES • THE AWAKENING • THE CUSTOM OF THE COUNTRY • THE HEADS OF CERBERUS • LADY AUDLEY’S SECRET • LOVE, ANGER, MADNESS • PASSING • THE TRANSFORMATION OF PHILIP JETTAN • VILLETTE • THERE IS CONFUSION • THE SELECTED POEMS OF EDNA ST.
