March 1953. Four young men venture onto the rooftop of the Palazzo Muti Baglioni in Venice. Among them is Hugo Pratt, the comic book artist returning from his first success in Argentina. Corto Maltese, his best known character, will not appear until 1967 with the publication of "A Ballad of the Salt Sea". However, the inspiration for Corto may already be at this rooftop gathering in Venice.
