Contexte. La démographie médicale est un sujet d'actualité préoccupant notamment avec le nombre de médecins généralistes en exercice qui tend à diminuer. Parallèlement à ce phénomène, la profession se féminise. A la faculté de Médecine de Nice, le nombre d'internes en médecine générale à former ne cesse d'augmenter et a doublé en 5 ans. Comment prévoir si ces futurs médecins généralistes qui sont en majorité des femmes, choisiront d'exercer en cabinet libéral plutôt qu'en tant que salariées de structures ou encore en tant que remplaçantes ? Objectif. Analyser le ressenti des jeunes femmes médecins généralistes installées depuis moins de cinq ans sur leurs conditions de vie et d'exercice. Méthode. Etude qualitative par entretiens semi dirigés de février à mars 2014 avec des femmes médecins généralistes des Alpes Maritimes, transcription et analyse thématique du verbatim. Résultats. Seize femmes généralistes ont été interrogées. La grande majorité exerce en milieu urbain, souvent en cabinet de groupe. Elles exercent un métier passionnant dans lequel elles s'impliquent et s'épanouissent. Elles sont conscientes que le métier peut très vite devenir envahissant et s'organisent dès le début de leur activité afin de travailler dans des conditions permettant à la fois d'avoir un confort de travail et de préserver leurs vies de famille. Elles sont globalement satisfaites de leurs qualités de vie actuelles. Elles attendent d'être aidées dans la gestion du versant non médical et une valorisation du métier. Discussion. L'image du médecin généraliste submergé de travail, dévoué corps et âmes à ses patients et au bord du burn out est loin. La nouvelle génération de généralistes récemment installés est constituée de jeunes femmes qui ont su faire de leur statut de femme, mère et épouse un atout : elles sont libres, indépendantes, épanouies dans leurs vies professionnelles et privées.

Ageing populations have gradually become a major concern in many industrialised countries over the past fifty years, drawing the attention of both politics and science. The target of a raft of health and social policies, older people are often identified as a specific, and vulnerable, population. At the same time, ageing has become a specialisation in many disciplines - medicine, sociology, psychology, to name but three – and a discipline of its own: gerontology. This book questions the framing of old age by focusing on the relationships between policy making and the production of knowledge. The first part explores how the meeting of scientific expertise and the politics of old age anchors the construction of both individual and collective relationships to the future. Part II brings to light the many ways in which issues relating to ageing can be instrumentalised and ideologised in several public debate arenas. Part III argues that scientific knowledge itself composes with objectivity, bringing ideologies of its own to the table, and looks at how this impacts discourse about ageing.
