El consenso amplio que se da a nivel internacional sobre la importancia de la dirección en el rendimiento de los alumnos y en la mejora escolar es, actualmente, algo incontestable y avalado por diferentes estudios. También se consideran aspectos diferenciales como puedan ser los específicos de la práctica directiva en entornos vulnerables, en centros de formación profesional y en contextos rurales.
