Book Description
The pavement bites into the soles of my feet with each stride as the rain and cold air pierce into my skin. The aluminous glow can be seen just through the branches. Safety, that glow brings safety. I feel sick to my stomach yet wired on adrenaline. Fear is what keeps me going. Even as the blood pours from my body and the pain cripples me I continue to push through. Push to survive. He can’t find me. I need to keep going. I can hear my name echo through the wind. “DAVIES.” The anger is his tone is enough to make my stomach churn, my knees shake. I can feel the tears welling in my eyes. Fighting to break free but I keep pushing. Even as the rocks and pebbles cause excruciating pain. Because I know, if he reaches me I’m dead. I broke free from him. I built a new life. I changed my name and my appearance but after a near assault on the streets of Brooklyn I find myself in the eyes of a mysterious stranger. A man from a different world than mine. His eyes are dark and dangerous. He could potentially risk everything I’ve built. Have I just ran from one man of darkness to another? Or could we help heal each others wounds.

Book Description
The perspective of the non Christian in a subculture society during 1971 experimenting with alternative life styles, music, and hallucinating drugs were prevalent, it was Libbys desire to write from their emotional perspective and capture this time in history whereby the cold war with Russia created a dooms day cataclysmic effect on the minds of a subculture generation who grew up to turn on and drop out a generation waiting for the next shoe to fall as Nikita Khrushchev had pounded the podium with his shoe at the UN in 1958 and then the Bay of Pigs where they awaited John F. Kennedys decision as to whether we would go to nuclear war in 1961 with Cuba whose allies were with Russia. At that time this subculture generation lived by their own rules some grew to adulthood without changing, some did change. There was no nuclear bomb to this day and time which fell on humankind but a great deal of testing of nuclear bombs in the waters of the earth was done.

What would you do if you found a magical board game that magically transformed you in some VERY surprising ways? Would you dare to keep playing? Could you uncover its mysteries? And how would the rest of your life turn out? In My Very Own Exchanji, YOU get to make all of these choices and more as you return to the world of Alyson Belle's classic book Exchanji, joining four young friends on the magical and hilarious romantic transformation adventure of a lifetime and seeing all the different ways their fateful night might have turned out. You play the book as Connor, one of the men, and when you find a dusty old board game called Exchanji (An Exciting Game of Changes for Consenting Adults) in a closet, things start to get wild as soon as the dice start rolling! Swapped bodies and surprising transformations are only the start of this crazy night... Not only can you pick which romantic encounters happen to Connor throughout the book, but you also get to choose from dozens and dozens of branching paths as the night gets crazier and crazier: Will you go along with the board game's magic or fight it every step of the way? Will you wind up with your girlfriend Maya, the hotheaded Kelsey, or even your best friend Frank? Do you dare to step beyond the portal and enter the magical realms of Exchanjia? With over 400 pages of possibilities and sixteen completely unique endings, the choices you make on this fateful day will affect Connor and every one of his friends for the rest of their lives (or maybe beyond)! Can you make the right choices to have fun, stay alive, and uncover all of the mysteries of the world of Exchanji? There's only one way to find out! Unlike traditional books, this is a branching narrative story that can be read multiple times with different events throughout. At the end of each section there are several hyperlinks indicating choices you can make for Connor, just like a game. You can tap your e-reader/tablet or click the link in your browser (depending on where you’re reading this) to make the selection you want, and you’ll be transported to that section to continue the story. While it’s possible to use your back buttons to go back a step, you’ll probably have the most fun if you treat the decisions as permanent until your next read-through, just like Connor and his friends would have to do!

Book Description
From the headlines of local newspapers to the coverage of major media outlets, scenes of war, natural disaster, political revolution and ethnic repression greet readers and viewers at every turn. What we often fail to grasp, however, despite numerous treatments of events is the deep meaning and broader significance of crisis and disaster. The complexity and texture of these situations are most evident in the broader personal stories of those whom the events impact most intimately. Oral history, with its focus on listening and collaborative creation with participants, has emerged as a forceful approach to exploring the human experience of crisis. Despite the recent growth of crisis oral history fieldwork, there has been little formal discussion of the process and meaning of utilizing oral history in these environments. Oral history research takes on special dimensions when working in highly charged situations often in close proximity to traumatic events. The emergent inclination for oral historians to respond to document crisis calls for a shared conversation among scholars as to what we have learned from crisis work so far. This dialogue, at the heart of this collection of oral history excerpts and essays, reveals new layers of the work of the oral historian. From the perspective of crisis and disaster oral history, the book addresses both the ways in which we think about the craft of oral hsitory, and the manner in which we use it. The book presents excerpts from oral histories done after twelve world crises, followed by critical analyses by the interviewers. Additional analytical chapters set the interviews in the contexts of pyschoanalysis and oral history methodology.
