But(s) : Evaluer les effets du stress prénatal sur la grossesse, le développement et le devenir de l'enfant à naître, et identifier les mécanismes mis en jeu. Méthode ; Nous avons réalisée une revue de la littérature sur les plateformes scientifiques "Pubmed" et "Science direct" sur la période de 2006 à 2015, incluant tous les articles ayant rapport au stress prénatal, à la grossesse, à son issue et au développement de l'enfant, en excluant les pathologies psychiatriques de type anxiété generalisée et dépression. Résultats : 26 articles ont été sélectionnés sur un total de 5295. Le stress prénatal engendre une augmentation du risque de prematurité et d'hypotrophie, qu'il soit aigu ou chronique. Le développement neurocognitif et la régulation de l'axe corticotrope de l'enfant sont également altérés. Discussion et conclusion : La sage-femme, de par ses compétences et de sa proximité avec les patientes se doit de dépister les évènements de vie entrainant un stress prénatal pour mettre en place une prise en charge adaptée de la gestante, en coordination avec l'obstetricien, et du nouveau-né, en post-natal, pour un suivi neurocognitif ulterieur.

Le développement de l'enfant in utéro est soumis à un grand nombre de facteurs environnementaux, certains pouvant être délétères. Le stress prénatal en ferait partie. En effet, la littérature met en avant la possible implication du stress prénatal dans l'émergence de pathologies métaboliques et psychiatriques (troubles cardiovasculaires, troubles du comportement, obésité, diabète de type 2, troubles dysimmunitaires...). Cependant,le lien exact et les conséquences sur la progéniture restent encore à déterminer. Toutefois, l'enjeu est important car le stress prénatal pourrait non seulement affecter l'individu mais aussi sa descendance, et ce à long terme. Une amélioration des connaissances permettra à terme d'améliorer la prise en charge du stress, notamment chez la femme enceinte, afin de la protéger au mieux, elle et son enfant.
