Lunch in Paris
Author: Suzy Ashford
Publisher: Thames & Hudson Australia
ISBN: 1923049267
Category : Cooking
Languages : en
Pages : 147
Book Description
This ebook has a fixed layout and is best viewed on a widescreen, full-colour tablet. Lunch in Paris is a tantalising daytrip through the City of Light, that works out to be a fair bit cheaper than a return flight to France. Each chapter of this chic cookbook focusses on one of Paris’ arrondissements and is studded with dreamy location photography. Stroll through the lush Place de Vosges, and along the golden water of Île Saint-Louis – all before roaming the fresh and fragrant markets of the 11th arrondissement. With 50 simple and classic examples of French cuisine, this book proves that you need not go to Le Cordon Bleu culinary school to perfect a Pork and Pistachio Terrine. Or Caramelised Onion and Goat’s Cheese Tartlets. Or an Olive and Anchovy Pissaladière. Or a Comté and Asparagus Tart (among many more). With poetic and loving descriptions of each arrondissement, Lunch in Paris lets you bring the flavours of France to your very own kitchen.

Publisher: Arcadia Publishing
ISBN: 9780738536545
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 132
Book Description
Nestled among the rolling hills of the Mohawk Valley, the town of Rotterdam was formed in 1820 from the Third Ward of the city of Schenectady. Its history, chronicled in Rotterdam's two hundred images, begins much earlier and is essentially the story of people past and present. The original settlers, mostly of Dutch origin, turned the wilderness into farmland. Their descendants and those who followed expanded into other livelihoods, producing goods that were shipped first along the Erie Canal and later across the nation by rail.

Whitesboro
Author: Judy Harp Mallozzi
Publisher: Arcadia Publishing
ISBN: 1439650292
Category : Photography
Languages : en
Pages : 128
Book Description
The fertile farmlands of the Mohawk Valley brought the first settlers to Whitestown, founded by Hugh White in 1784. Abundant water was available to service mills and to provide a means for shipping goods from the existing knitting mills, cheese factories, iron works, and lumberyards of Whitesboro, a village of Whitestown. Irish immigrants settled into Whitesboro after building the Erie Canal, while German immigrants brought their carpenter talents to build furniture, such as the famous Quigley rolltop desk. The Dutch sought out Wybo E. Wind, the Dutch baker who employed many in his bakery, and because of the large number of Welsh immigrants in Remsen, there was a big spillover into Whitesboro. Among the first things sought by those visiting the area is Whitesboro's diverse cuisine, boasting some of the best Italian, Greek, and Lebanese dishes, all brought by immigrants. Whiteboro's proximity to the Adirondacks allows residents to enjoy camps, summer homes, swimming, and winter activities. The rolling hills and beautiful scenery are part of the charm that still attracts people to the area today.
