La loi impose à tout professionnel de santé, depuis le 13 août 2004, de justifier d'une évaluation de ses pratiques professionnelles (EPP). Notre expérience en région PACA, où 300 médecins généralistes ont expérimenté une méthode d'échange de pratiques, a montré que la démarche par groupes de pairs (GDP) constitue une réponse scientifique et innovante à l'EPP. En tenant compte à la fois de la spécificité des GDP et des modalités de réalisation de l'évaluation, les principes suivants pourraient être retenus afin de solliciter l'agrément de la Haute autorité de sécurité (HAS) : analyse quantitative du travail réalisé par les GDP au travers du compte-redu de séance et analyse qualitative par le biais des visites des GDP par des médecins "habilités". Le médecin "habilité" serait un facilitateur de la méthodologie GDP. Il aurait également un rôle dans la recherche des points forts et des faiblesses du groupe et dans la recherche d'axes d'amélioration. Il a pour rôle d'apporter les connaissances manquantes au fonctionnement des GDP et ainsi de les amener à la meilleure production possible. La visite pourrait ainsi prendre la forme d'un bilan annuel fournissant aux Union régionales des médecins libéraux ou aux associations agréées dans l'évaluation un retour du travail effectué par le GDP. Elle permettrait aussi pour chaque médecin participant de valider l'obligation EPP.
