Josiah's Big Day is a story about a young student who uses a power wheelchair that is left out of his school's field day activities. The story takes place after the students have finished their state tests and are celebrating the end of the school year with the annual field day event. Josiah and his friends, Cami, Samantha, and Charlie, notice that there are not any games or activities available for students who use wheelchairs, like Josiah. The concerned group of five students take it upon themselves to talk to Coach Rayburn, the teacher in charge of planning field day, and express their concern over the lack of inclusive activities and also present an alternative list of activities that are inclusive. Coach Rayburn realizes that she never thought about the games not being wheelchair friendly, and quickly begins reorganizing the list. The next day, the students looked at the new list to discover that they had been successful and Coach Rayburn had implemented their requested changes. Thanks to the "CapABLE Crew," Josiah, as well as all the other students who use wheelchairs or similar equipment, would be able to participate in all the games and activities at field day.
