Book Description
Little in our lives today is more important and more needed than personal spiritual growth. I am convinced that Lance Lambert’s discernment (and humor) in this account of God’s dealings with Jacob are worth a thousand sermons. Of all his books and Bible teachings, I regard this as the apex, the spearhead, the most important of all else that Lance has shared in his worldwide teaching ministry. - Ken Burnett When God deals with us it is often in deeply mystifying ways. There is no greater example of how God shapes a person than through the remarkable story of Jacob. Jacob I Have Loved is far more than a mere biblical overview of the story of Jacob. It is an outstanding illustration of God’s desire to utterly transform our fallen inner nature. Despite a twisted, deceiving, and sinful heart, Jacob nonetheless inherited God’s richest blessings and became one of the patriarchs of our faith. Herein lies one of the Bible’s great mysteries. The amazing truth is that Jacob’s name has not been lost in the debris of human history, nor has it been forgotten, as have so many other names. Incredibly, it is forever linked with God. His story is an integral part of the history of divine redemption. This book is about the power of God to transform a human life. Jacob’s story is our story.

Book Description
As Jacob lay sleeping with his head on a rock pillow, he dreamed of a ladder reaching to heaven with angels ascending and descending. The dream provided Jacob with a glimpse of the redeeming work of Jesus and His desire to connect heaven and earth and save us from our sins. Beyond Jacob's Ladder: The Simplicity of Salvation by Lois Carscallen will help you realize just how simple salvation can be by examining different "ladders" throughout the Bible that help us, as Christians, to connect with heaven on our spiritual journey. Jacob's ladder will teach you to trust God's promises and start a relationship with Him. Peter's ladder highlights the gifts from God. God's ladder emphasizes the importance of the Ten Commandments. Jesus' ladder discusses the hardships God's people may endure. Paul's ladder talks about embodying the fruit of the Spirit. God's Creation ladder examines the beginning of humanity. John and Moses' ladder provide understanding about the sanctuary message. Interwoven are key quotes from Ellen White that illuminate Carscallen's points and provide a deeper understanding of what each step on the ladder means. Just as God spoke to Jacob in a dream, He speaks to us by words written in the Bible. Using the Bible as Beyond Jacob's Ladder's backbone, Carscallen will help you find security and comfort when holding on to the true Ladder that connects us to heaven--Christ. Endorsement "As I read Beyond Jacob's Ladder, I was impressed by Lois' unique ability to weave her personal life experiences with meaningful quotations and precious Bible texts into a faith-affirming tapestry so easy to understand." Sue Patzer, Women's Ministries Director and Early Childhood Education and Care Coordinator, North Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists

Book Description
This book is a commentary in the form of a journal. It is meant to be something like a diary kept by a tourist or a spy of his travels in a strange land, recording questions and observations and opinions on everything he sees for other travelers on the same road. It could be also called a dialogue because the author records the conversation that he has with Genesis as he moves along, and the conversation he has with himself in the privacy of his motel room. In both ways it is the account of a journey with the idea that it may be of some use to others traveling the same road. The author is writing as an amateur to other amateurs. He is not a professional theologian nor a biblical scholar, and while his intent is to think as deeply and truly as he can, he is not doing so as a professional. There are several advantages that an amateur may have over a professional in a case like this. First the amateur can be much bolder in what he questions and in the answers he considers. The professional always has something on the line, always something at risk, namely his reputation. He cannot venture far off the beaten path without being in some danger of losing his respectability. The amateur, on the other hand, has little respectability to lose and little reputation to risk. What Dr. Boswell would not be able to risk in mathematical writing he can be quite at liberty to risk in this project. It can be exhilarating. Secondly the amateur has a much friendlier connection with the average reader. The amateur is something of an equal with the average reader, though presumably with something to say worth the hearing. Since they are introduced as equals, the reader can feel safer, less threatened, more entitled to join in the conversation that the author is trying to create. With a professional author there is always the sense of obligation that one should not argue back with the scholar; only another scholar has the credentials to join in their conversation, and the rest of us must sort it all out as best we can. But with this book there is no need of restraint; anyone can be drawn in to the discussion, anyone can feel entitled to disagree, with impunity. It can be exhilarating. This book is not meant to be a "Bible made simple" book. It is written by someone who loves to think and is written for others who love to think. It is written by someone who is not timid about difficult questions and is written for others who have no fear of such things. But most of all it is a book written for the pure joy of the thing and for those who might share that joy.
