Book Description
The results of amplitude analyses of the Mark III data on the K[sub s][sup 0]K[sub s][sup 0], K[sup+]K[sup -] and[pi][sup+][pi][sup -] systems produced in J/[psi] radiative decay are shown for the mass range 1--2 GeV. The intensity distributions for the amplitudes having J[sup PC] values 0[sup+2] and 2[sup+2] are presented and discussed. The observed strong production of the f[sub 0](1700) in J/[psi] radiative decay suggests that this state may consist primarily of the lightest scalar glueball state. No significant production of spin 2 is observed in the 1.7 GeV mass region.

Book Description
Radiative decays of the radically excited charmonium resonance, [psi](2S), into[pi][pi], K[bar K] and[eta][eta] final states have been measured in a sample of 3.96 x 10[sup 6][psi](2S) events collected by the BES collaboration. The branching ratios B([psi](2S)[yields][gamma]f[sub 2](1270))= (2.27[+-] 0.26[+-] 0.39) x 10[sup -4] and B([psi](2S)[yields][gamma]f[sub 0](1710)) x B(f[sub 0](1710)[yields] K[sup+]K[sup -])= (5.59[+-] 1.12[+-] 0.93) x 10[sup -5] are obtained. When compared to the corresponding radiative J/[psi] decays, the observed[psi](2S) radiative decay rates into[gamma]f[sub 2](1270) and[gamma]f[sub 0](1710) are consistent with the ''15%'' rule.

Book Description
Measurements of the two body decays of the J/[psi] into vector and pseudoscalar meson pairs are presented. Using the measured branching ratios, a phenomenological model of J//psi/ decays indicates that the [eta] and [eta]' are composed only of light and strange quarks, without a gluonium contribution in the [eta]' wavefunction. A measurement of J//psi/ .-->. .gamma pi./sup +/.pi./sup -/.pi./sup +/.pi./sup -/ is presented. The f1 (1285) is observed and its spin and parity are investigated. The /eta//sub c/ is observed to decay to /rho/°/rho/°, and first indications of /eta//sub c/ decays to f2f2 are presented. The spin and parity of the /eta//sub c/ are investigated. 5 figs., 3 figs., 1 tab.

Book Description
The MARK III detector at the SPEAR ee/sup /minus// storage ring at SLAC accumulated a data sample of 5.8 × 106 J/[psi] produced in 1982, '83 and '85. Recent results in radiative decays, including different decay modes of the /eta//sub c/ and the search for scalars, are presented. The systematic study of the hadronic decays of the J//psi/ into a vector-tensor meson pair is discussed, and a detailed analysis of the decay mode J//psi/ .-->. .omega.f2(1270) is described. 12 refs., 12 figs., 1 tab.

Book Description
The MARK III detector operating at the SPEAR storage ring has acquired a sample of 2.7 x 106 produced psi(3097)'s. These events are used to investigate the radiative decays of the psi to two meson final states. Such decays are of topical interest because of the unusual QCD laboratory they provide - of particular interest is the possibility of observing glueball states. The process psi ..-->.. ..gamma pi ... pi..− is studied. The f(1270) tensor meson is observed and the helicity structure of its production is measured. The data indicate that helicity 2 is suppressed, in disagreement with lowest order QCD calculations. Evidence is presented for the first observation of the theta(1700) in the ..pi ... pi..− final state. The strong, but not complete, suppression of this state in the ..pi pi.. channel, combined with the absence of a J/sup P/ = 2+ signal in a recent MARK III analysis of psi ..-->.. ..gamma.. rho rho, suggest a very mysterious nature for the theta(1700). The process psi ..-->.. ..gamma..K+K− is also studied. The f'(1515) tensor meson is observed with a branching ratio in agreement with the SU(3) symmetry prediction for the standard two gluon radiative decay diagram with no mixing corrections. The helicity structure of the f'(1515) is measured for the first time, and is found to be similar to that of the f(1270). The theta(1700) is observed with high statistics. Its spin and parity are measured, with the result that J/sup P/ = 2+ is preferred over J/sup P/ = 0+ at the 99.9% C.L. In addition, evidence is presented for a remarkable narrow state, designated the xi(2220). Its parameters are measured to be: m = 2.218 +- 0.003 +- 0.010 GeV, GAMMA less than or equal to 0.040 GeV at 95% C.L., and BR(psi ..-->.. ..gamma..xi(2220))BR(xi(2220) ..-->.. K+K−) = (5.7 +- 1.9 +- 1.4) x 10−5.
