Book Description
I can't really explain my attraction to the bow and arrow. I can't explain the pull of a camp fire either, or the ocean, or the open hills where you can see forever. It's just there. These things are in all of us I think, some vestige of our primitive past buried so deep in our genome as to be inseparable from what it is to be human. What we think of as civilization is a new experiment in the eyes of Father Time. Experts say that humans have been around for some fifty thousand years. We've been carrying the bow for maybe five thousand (atlatls and spears before that), and pushing the plow for maybe two thousand. We have been hunters forever. We are built to run, to pursue big game on the open savannas, to kill and eat them. With the dwindling of the Pleistocene mega fauna, mammoths and such, the bow became more important and indeed helped to make us who we are today. It still holds that attraction, same as the hearth. When I was a kid I would make crude bows from green plum branches, big at one end and small at the other. A discarded hay string would serve as a bowstring. My arrows were fat and unfletched and would scarcely fly more than a few yards, usually tumbling over in midair. The small creatures around our home were plenty safe. When I was about 12 or so my brother brought me two old Ben Person recurves he'd found at a yard sale. One was a short bow, probably no more than 48 inches and the other was more of a standard size. They both drew about 50 lbs if I recall. That fall happened to be a good year for cottontails around our little farm and I spent countless hours walking the fields and shooting at them as they busted from underfoot. Although I'd get several shots a day I never did hit one on the fly but I remember that fall fondly nonetheless. The pleasure of jumping rabbits and seeing the feathered shaft streaking toward them was a thrill I've never forgotten. I made my first "real" bow when I was in high school, after getting a copy of the Traditional Bowyers Bible in the mail (more on this in a moment). My first bow, a decrowned mulberry flatbow, broke within about 10 shots. The second held together quite well and is probably still around somewhere and capable of shooting an arrow, though it would probably draw about 70lbs. When I first started making bows I used the woods I had close at hand; mulberry, common persimmon, red maple, white cedar, etc. I'd probably made more than a dozen bows of various woods before I ever saw a piece of Osage. People often ask me where they can find a bow stave and, invariably, I tell them to use what they have close by. No matter where you live, you'll have something near that will make a bow. Go cut it down and get started. This book is an attempt to share some of what I've learned over my years of bow making. The Traditional Bowyers Bible series, as mentioned earlier, is still a great source of information. Why write another book on making wood bows you might ask? The simple answer is that there are so many ways of doing and explaining things. There are still unanswered questions and we'll cover many of them here. We will cover all of the most frequently asked questions, and lay out a simple plan that should guide you through the entire process, from finding a stave to stringing your bow and shooting your first arrow. Some of what you'll find here, you'll find nowhere else.

Book Description
The Big Bow Mystery (1892) is a novel by Israel Zangwill. Although he is frequently recognized as a writer who focused on the plight of London’s Jewish community, Zangwill also wrote works of genre fiction. Originally serialized in The Star, The Big Bow Mystery is a satirical take on the locked room mystery that continues to astound, entertain, and frustrate readers to this day. Having risen through poverty to become an educator and author, Zangwill dedicated his career to the voiceless, the oppressed, and the needy, advocating for their rights and bearing witness to their suffering in some of the most powerful novels and stories of the Victorian era. On a foggy morning in a working-class neighborhood on the East End of London, a landlady rises to light the fire and make a pot of tea. Eventually, Mrs. Drabdump realizes that one of her tenants has overslept, and goes upstairs to wake him. Finding his room locked from the inside, she grows concerned and enlists the help of another tenant. Forcing open the door, they find the man—a prominent activist for worker’s rights—dead in his own bed. When the coroner’s report reveals that the man was neither murdered or killed by his own hand, an investigation is launched involving inept policemen, a major politician, and several strange characters whose peculiarities provide a darkly humorous tint to an otherwise brutal tale of death and urban decay. With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of Israel Zangwill’s The Big Bow Mystery is a classic of British literature reimagined for modern readers.

Book Description
How has our society changed so dramatically and so quickly, especially in the last fifty years? Today, the changes mock and seek to recreate the basic tenets of God’s creation: o gender identities o the sanctity of human life o the structure of family and society o the relationship with and care of the earth o the Ten Commandments These changes also undermine the Judeo-Christian values inherent in the creation of America: o freedom vs. authoritarianism o national sovereignty vs. globalism o personal privacy vs. state surveillance o unified national identity vs. racial and ethnic divisiveness o equality of opportunity vs. equity or equality of outcome Obvious forces us to examine what’s in front of our faces before it’s too late to turn back. “Sadar’s book deftly details the truth we all crave with disarming humor, endearing charm and inspiring enthusiasm. Buy several as gifts for friends and foes, obviously.” —Sam Sorbo, award-winning filmmaker, best-selling author, education freedom advocate “Topping the ‘Most Obvious’ list is Sadar’s compelling case recounting (get it?) the stolen election of 2020, making this book a must-read!” —Kevin Sorbo, actor, director, producer, author, and all around good guy “Obvious is a funny, thorough, detailed, and researched gourmet meal of truth you can share with your uninformed and clueless friends. You'll all finish it fatter, smarter, and happier. It says everything I want to say, but better than I can say it.” —Victoria Jackson, SNL alum, actress, stand-up, songwriter, and author of Is My Bow Too Big? and Lavender Hair “Full of wit and a truckload of common sense, Albin Sadar’s new book, Obvious, is a refreshing compilation of tales, including true stories and legendary whoppers, that offer a much needed reminder that contrary to what some might say, the sky is blue, the grass is green, and thankfully, God is good.” —Lucas Miles, pastor, film producer, and author of Woke Jesus
