"John Chipman was born, probably at Bryans-Piddle, near Dorchester, England about 1614; died April 7, 1708. Always brotherless and early left fatherless, he sailed from Barnstable, Devon County, England in May 1631, in the ship Friendship, arriving in Boston July 14 1631.
