Book Description
The analyses in the first part of this report are aimed at developing an understanding of hardware & software implementation issues for a high performance fusion function within the Anti Air Warfare (AAW) frigate. The AN/UYK-507 CB computer is selected for the study of the general purpose processor implementations. An extended parallel processing architecture, capable of executing about 100 million operations per second, is proposed within the militarized version of this computer for the study of the parallel processing implementations. A central level fusion function using the multi-hypothesis tracking method is selected for the study of benchmark algorithm implementations and an appendix shows how to estimate the number of mathematical operations required to perform some tasks of the multisensor data fusion functions. The analyses in the second part focusses mainly on the man-machine interface & human factors issues of an AAW frigate employing the central-level fusion function using the method discussed in the first part.
