Book Description
Organic semiconductors are a central topic of advanced materials research. The book is aiming at bridging the gap between the development and production of devices and basic research on thin film characterisation using cutting-edge techniques in surface and interface science. Topics involve organic molecular-based sensors; interfaces in organic diodes and transistors; mobility in organic field effect transistors and space charge problems; integration of optoelectronic nanostructures; nonlinear optical properties of organic nanostructures; the wetting layer problem; how to get from functionalized molecules to nanoaggregates; optical, electrical and mechanical properties of organic nanofibers as well; as near field investigations of organic thin films.

Book Description
Studies of thin film growth involve interdependent chemical, electronic and mechanical properties whose comprehensive understanding is critical for predicting thin film morphology and properties. Self assembly of organic molecules on a metal substrate lays the groundwork for structures desired in nanotechnology applications. The three classes of films which I investigate are: monolayer MoS2 with strong Mo-S bonding, anthracene films formed by weak van der Waals interactions, and anthraquinine (AQ) honeycomb networks assembled by the interplay of local hydrogen bonding and substrate-mediated long range interactions. In this book, scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and angular resolved ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (ARUPS) have been used to investigate monolayer and sub-monolayer thin films grown on a Cu(111) substrate. My research focuses on the use of STM, XPS and ARUPS to investigate the role of ionic bonding, van der Waals interaction, hydrogen bonding and surface mediated interactions during growth of thin films and how to tailor the film morphology by controlling these interactions.

Book Description
Thin film growth technology develops rapidly with the requirement of understanding the mechanical and electronic interaction and how they will control the Morphology of the film. Self-assembly of the organic molecules on metal substrate provide a bottom-up path toward building up desires conformation for nanotechnology application. In this study, STM and Photoelectron Spectroscopy have been used to investigate monolayer or sub-monolayer thin film grown on Cu(111) substrate. To be more specific, The films I investigate are monolayer MoS2 formed by strong covalent bonding between Mo and S atoms, Anthracene thin film formed by weak van der Waals interaction and Anthraquinone (AQ) honeycomb network form by hydrogen bonding and other long range surface mediated interaction. My research interest is using STM, XPS and ARUPS to investigate what is the role of these interactions during the growth of the thin film and how to control the film morphology by controlling these interactions.

Book Description
This second, thoroughly revised, updated and enlarged edition provides a straightforward introduction to spectroscopy, showing what it can do and how it does it, together with a clear, integrated and objective account of the wealth of information that may be derived from spectra. It also features new chapters on spectroscopy in nano-dimensions, nano-optics, and polymer analysis. Clearly structured into sixteen sections, it covers everything from spectroscopy in nanodimensions to medicinal applications, spanning a wide range of the electromagnetic spectrum and the physical processes involved, from nuclear phenomena to molecular rotation processes. In addition, data tables provide a comparison of different methods in a standardized form, allowing readers to save valuable time in the decision process by avoiding wrong turns, and also help in selecting the instrumentation and performing the experiments. These four volumes are a must-have companion for daily use in every lab.
