Book Description
A low-speed wind-tunnel investigation was made to determine the lateral control characteristics of extensible wing-tip ailerons on an untapered semispan wing having two configurations; one configuration was unswept and had an aspect ratio of 3.13 and the other configuration was swept back 45 degrees and had an aspect ratio of 1.59. Three plan forms of extensible ailerons were investigated on each wing configuration at various amounts of extension and deflection relative to the wing-chord plane. Also, wing aerodynamic characteristics were determined for the two plain-wing configurations.

Book Description
An investigation to determine the lateral control characteristics of a 20-percent-chord flap-type aileron of various spans on a semispan wing-fuselage model was made in the transonic speed range. The wing of the model had 45 degrees of sweepback, an aspect ratio of 3.7, a taper ratio of 1.0, and an NACA 65A009 airfoil section parallel to the free stream. Rolling moments were obtained through a small range of angles of attack and aileron deflections. Lift data on the complete model are also included.

Book Description
An investigation at transonic speeds of the loading over a 45 degree sweptback wing having an aspect ratio of 3, a taper ratio of 0.2, and NACA 65A004 airfoil sections has been conducted in the Langley16-foot transonic tunnel. Pressure measurements on the wing-body combination were obtained at angles of attack from 0 to 26 degrees at Mach numbers from 0.80 to 0.98 and from 0 to about 12 degrees at Mach numbers from 1.00 to 1.05. Reynolds number, based on the wing mean aerodynamic chord, varied from 7,000,000 to 8,500,000 over the test Mach number range.

Book Description
An investigation was conducted in the Langley 16-foot transonic tunnel to determine the characteristics of several flap-type spoiler ailerons, lower-surface deflector ailerons, and spoiler-slot-deflector ailerons. These controls were located in the vicinity of the 70-percent wing chord line and extended outboard to 87 percent of the wing semispan. The flap-type spoilers were tested at only one projection. The wing of the wing-body combination used in these tests had 45 degree sweepback, an aspect ratio of 4.0, a taper ratio of 0.60, and NACA 65A006 airfoil sections parallel to the plane of symmetry. Six-component force and moment data were obtained at Mach numbers from 0.60 to 1.03 (Reynolds numbers from 5,050,000 to 6,000,000) for an angle-of-attack range from 0 to approximately 20 degrees.

Book Description
An investigation has been made in the Langley 300 MPH 7- by 10-foot tunnel to determine the lateral control characteristics of a deflector and slot arrangement in conjunction with a flap-type spoiler aileron. The wing had a sweepback of 45 degrees at the quarter-chord line, an aspect ratio of 4, a taper ratio of 0.6, and an NACA 65A006 airfoil section parallel to the free air stream.

Book Description
A low-speed wind-tunnel investigation was made to determine the lateral control characteristics of three untapered unswept wings of aspect ratio 1.13, 2.13, and 4.13 and an untapered 4%o sweptback wing of aspect ratio 2.09 equipped with O.60-semispan retractable ailerons having various projections. Each of the wings had an NACA 64A010 airfoil section and had the ailerons mounted at the 0. 70-chord station. The continuous- span aileron investigated on the unswept wings spanned the outboard stations of each wing; whereas the plain (continuous span) and stepped (segmented) retractable ailerons investigated on the sweptback wing were located at various spanwise stations and were tested with and without simulated actuating arms.
