Book Description
The COVID-19 pandemic has served as a wakeup call to India, as it has across the globe. Public health systems, both in developed and developing nations, are showing signs of stress in handling the number of patients afflicted by both COVID-19 and non-COVID ailments. As efforts to manage the pandemic tend to undermine care for other illnesses, including serious ones like cancer, there are concerns of delay in the diagnosis and treatment of these non-COVID illnesses.[1] Moreover, physical-distancing norms, as well as fear of contracting COVID-19 from a hospital, are preventing people from getting medical help in-person. The imperative is to build a comprehensive telemedicine network that will fill the gaps. Broadly, any telemedicine framework needs to provide the following services:

Book Description
This book explains how telemedicine can offer solutions capable of improving the care and survival rates of cancer patients and can also help patients to live a normal life in spite of their condition. Different fields of application – community, hospital and home based – are examined, and detailed attention is paid to the use of tele-oncology in rural/extreme rural settings and in developing countries. The impact of new technologies and the opportunities afforded by the social web are both discussed. The concluding chapters consider eLearning in relation to cancer care and assess the scope for education to improve prevention. No medical condition can shatter people’s lives as cancer does today and the need to develop strategies to reduce the disease burden and improve quality of life is paramount. Readers will find this new volume in Springer’s TELe Health series to be a rich source of information on the important contribution that can be made by telemedicine in achieving these goals.

Book Description
This volume fills a major gap in the evidence base on adolescents and youth in India by bringing together research, policy critiques and programme analyses in an intersectoral and multidisciplinary way. With about 373 million persons between the ages of 10 and 24 years, India has the largest number of young people of any country in the world. While this large cohort presents an excellent opportunity to reap a rich demographic dividend, their potential can be realised only with intelligent investments, which create well nourished, healthy, appropriately educated and skilled youth. This volume is based on desk reviews and is complemented by discussions with experts in 4 key thematic areas: nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, mental health and livelihoods, overall focusing on the health and wellbeing of the young in India. Each chapter provides a comprehensive picture of the current situation in a focal theme and identifies significant gaps in information/data and programmes. In addition, it explores the scenario of building capacity for undertaking research on, and with adolescents, through a qualitative needs assessment. This timely volume provides a thorough overview of related research, policy and programmes for a wide group of social and behavioural scientists and public health experts interested in India’s young people.

The Indian Health Service (IHS) provides health care services to Amer. Indians and Alaskan Natives. IHS can be reimbursed for services provided at IHS facilities from third-party insurers, incl. Medicare, Medicaid, and private health insurers. IHS is allowed to retain funds collected from these insurers without offsetting its appropriations, so that all revenue collected by a facility remains with that facility. This report examines: (1) the design of IHS's policies and procedures for billing and collecting revenue from private insurers incl. write-offs of uncollectible claims; and (2) the adequacy of IHS headquarters' monitoring of area office and service unit compliance with policies and procedures for the billing and collection of revenue from private insurers. Kutz analyzed IHS property records from FY 2004-2007, conducted a full physical inventory at IHS headquarters, and statistically tested inventory of IT equipment at 7 IHS field locations in 2007 and 2008.
