Book Description
The resignation of Geoffrey Hinton, the godfather of AI from the technology giant, Google, in May 2023, has triggered debates on the evolving techno-economic paradigm that is being unfolded, with possible unfavorable stakes on jobs and business sustainability. Besides its usual annual review of policy, practice, and developments, this twenty-sixth issue of the ‘India MSME Report series’ closely examines such scenario, and explores new directions in public policy and strategies. Bringing together the two streams of thinking, ie, the “Vikasit Bharat” agenda of the Government of India, and the vision of “Unleashing entrepreneurship”, as outlined by the United Nations, it puts forth the motto of “India First; SMEs First”, as the way forward. This Report puts forth a new vision and horizon for MSMEs in the country: ‘decentralized smart manufacturing’.

The sole aim of this sacred book is to ignite young minds to turn their dreams into determination for national growth and development through personal skill and capacity development. This book highlights India’s rich and glorious history, culture, trade & commerce, politics, geography, demography, and economy on one hand, and religion, spirituality, philosophy, gender, education, health, climate action, and science & technology, on the other hand. What are India’s present strengths? What more India can learn from the USA, China, Japan, Germany, and Israel has been discussed in this book. Also, the author has explored the perceptions of some great social, political, and spiritual leaders of the world about India and its superiority in science, technology, mathematics, spirituality, culture, and beauty. Moreover, India’s vibrant foreign policy and robust public policies since independence with a special focus on the Modi Government have been examined minutely. Book Description
Entrepreneurship is a tool of innovation promotion that supports sound economic environments as it stimulates economic growth and development. The BRICS nations, i.e., Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, are a group of emerging countries comprising the highest developmental block of the emerging nations. It is imperative to assess the entrepreneurship policies, strategies, and promotional programmes and their implications for, among others, entrepreneurship funding, economic growth, and employment trends. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the entrepreneurship environment and equally steered state funding priorities away from entrepreneurship development support worldwide. This research book assesses the effect that COVID-19 has had on government funding priority, policy interventions and resultant implications on the entrepreneurship environment, economic growth and employment with a focus on BRICS. Readers will gain insight into what entrepreneurship looks like in the BRICS context and how it has been affected by COVID-19, indicating how the BRICS nations are likely to move forward to further strengthen entrepreneurship. This edited volume will be of interest to researchers, academics, practitioners, and advanced students in the fields of entrepreneurship, innovation, strategy, international relations, multilateralism, and economic development.

Book Description
In 2011 the World Bank—with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation—launched the Global Findex database, the world's most comprehensive data set on how adults save, borrow, make payments, and manage risk. Drawing on survey data collected in collaboration with Gallup, Inc., the Global Findex database covers more than 140 economies around the world. The initial survey round was followed by a second one in 2014 and by a third in 2017. Compiled using nationally representative surveys of more than 150,000 adults age 15 and above in over 140 economies, The Global Findex Database 2017: Measuring Financial Inclusion and the Fintech Revolution includes updated indicators on access to and use of formal and informal financial services. It has additional data on the use of financial technology (or fintech), including the use of mobile phones and the Internet to conduct financial transactions. The data reveal opportunities to expand access to financial services among people who do not have an account—the unbanked—as well as to promote greater use of digital financial services among those who do have an account. The Global Findex database has become a mainstay of global efforts to promote financial inclusion. In addition to being widely cited by scholars and development practitioners, Global Findex data are used to track progress toward the World Bank goal of Universal Financial Access by 2020 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The database, the full text of the report, and the underlying country-level data for all figures—along with the questionnaire, the survey methodology, and other relevant materials—are available at www.worldbank.org/globalfindex.

Book Description
The SME Policy Index is a benchmarking tool for emerging economies to monitor and evaluate progress in policies that support small and medium-sized enterprises. The ASEAN SME Policy Index 2018 is a joint effort between the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East-Asia (ERIA), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (ACCMSME). The report is the outcome of work conducted by the ten ASEAN Member States (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam). Divided into eight policy dimensions, it builds on the previous edition of the ASEAN SME Policy Index 2014. The current edition presents an updated methodology which makes this document a powerful tool to assess the strengths and weaknesses that exist in policy design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation for SMEs, and allows for a benchmarking of the level to which the ASEAN Strategic Action Plan for SME Development (SAP SMED) 2016-2025 has been implemented. Its objective is to enhance the capacity of policy makers to identify policy areas for future reform, as well as implement reforms in accordance with international good practices. The report provides a regional perspective on recent developments in SME-related policies in Southeast Asia as well as in individual ASEAN Member States. Based on this analysis the report provides a menu of concrete policy options for the region and for the individual countries.
