Los sistemas agroforestales son de gran importancia para contrarrestar las areas afectadas por erosion, degradacion de los suelos, cambio climatico y perdida de la biodiversidad, a traves de diferentes sistemas y tecnologias del uso de la tierra en las que se combinan arboles con cultivos agricolas, tambien pastos; en funcion del tiempo y espacio, logrando alternativas viables, ademas restituyen el patrimonio forestal y posibilita el potencial de abrigo y refugio de la fauna. La deforestacion y las practicas agropecuarias no conservacionistas, han sido una de las principales causas de estas crisis, que han conllevado a serio conflicto socio ambiental. Sin embargo estas vias ecologicas que les proponemos a los profesionales que trabajan en este campo de accion son eficientes para obtener beneficios economicos, ecologicos y sociales. Los resultados destacan la diversificacion de la produccion en busca de alternativas en las areas no aptas de los sistemas agroforestales, en funcion de lograr especies perennes con aplicacion de productos biologicos, frutales de porte alto y bajo y sistemas silvopastoriles."

El cambio climático representa una amenaza para la seguridad alimentaria y la nutrición, sobre todo por su impacto en la producción agrícola. Con el fin de ayudar a los países en desarrollo a identificar dónde se necesitan aplicar con mayor urgencia las medidas de adaptación, el Instituto Internacional de Investigaciones sobre Políticas Alimentarias (IFPRI) realizó un estudio plurianual destinado a evaluar el impacto potencial del cambio climático en el sector agrícola en 2050, teniendo en cuenta el panorama probable de los desafíos políticos y económicos que deberán enfrentar los responsables de políticas. El estudio integra los resultados de los modelos económicos y climáticos e incluye análisis bioeconómicos y biofísicos de Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua y Costa Rica, en América Central, y de Colombia y Perú, en la región Andina de Sudamérica. Los análisis del estudio se llevaron a cabo con una resolución de 50 kilómetros para obtener una distribución detallada de los impactos climáticos directos y también a escala nacional para mostrar las crisis económicas acumuladas.

Maintaining and managing agrobiodiversity is a key issue proposed by agroecology, not only to maintain high agricultural productivity, but also to increase the resilience, stability and sustainability of the agroecosystems, meant as the functional relationship between the natural assets and the human use of them, at farm and farm matrix scale. The main hypothesis of this approach is that, the greater the interactions between organisms of different trophic levels (edaphic organisms, multiple crops, weed plants, herbivores, carnivores, plants in living fences, corridors or forest patches within agroecosystems), the greater will be the possibilities of obtaining abundant and varied harvests, with fewer external inputs (pesticides, fertilizers) and better environmental performance. The agrobiodiversity is meant as the variety and the disposition of the cultivations, pastures, farms, that affect the soil properties and create habitat diversity, landscape diversity and connectivity. At the level of landscapes or territories, the set of biodiverse agroecosystems generate natural matrices that have a powerful impact on the recovery and restoration of forest corridors, which, in turn, positively influence many ecosystem services for nature conservation and free movement and recovery of many populations of animal species, including those in danger of extinction.
