Book Description
"This report is the second volume of four dealing with the Illinois Coastal Zone Management Program. Included in this particular report are physical data prepared by the Illinois State Geological Survey for the time period FY1975. Included in the report are seven studies on different aspects of the Lake Michigan Illinois shoreline. The studies offer data on: beach distribution and condition, distribution and levels of erosion, conditions of shore stability, distribution and kinds of shore protection, and areas and conditions of hazard. These categories are subdivided and grouped by political units, thereby providing a summary of shore conditions and problems for each community. All of the studies reported here continue along with the new projects begun in FY1976. (Authored extracted)" -- (Source - Bibliographic Data Sheet, page [1])

Book Description
"This report contains an evaluation of the citizen participation program under the Illinois Coastal Zone Management Program. Included in the report are outlines of the various programs and workshops conducted under the program as well as the informative materials used and distributed to the public. The activity was to be aimed at the lay citizen who was neither a public official nor a participant in the program by contract or agreement. This meant that some public agencies were to be involved as citizens. Work with public officials locally was to be handled by the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission under agreement with the state program. The principal objectives of the program were twofold. First, citizens needed education on the program. A second and equally important objective was to get citizen facts, issues, and alternatives policies into the program. A key aim was to open channels of communication so that citizens and staff could talk to each other, understand each other, and react to new information.
