Il software Plinti-SL guida e supporta l'utente nella fase di progettazione, effettuando le verifiche globali e strutturali agli stati limite, anche in zona sismica. Esso, pur operando per default molte scelte in conformità alle prescrizioni della norma, permette all'utente di modificarle per meglio adeguarle al caso che sta esaminando ovvero in caso di variazioni previste da aggiornamenti delle norme. Il programma consente di esaminare plinti a sezione rettangolare, trapezia o a T rovescia. Vengono eseguite per le sezioni significative le verifiche allo stato limite di esercizio ed allo stato limite ultimo a flessione, taglio e punzonamento. Le verifiche strutturali vengono eseguite con riferimento alla schematizzazione di plinto alto o di plinto snello, a seconda della geometria del plinto.

In the late Roman Republic and early Empire senators were prohibited by law from direct participation in seaborne commerce; trade was not considered a respectable pursuit. The Villa dei Papiri at Herculaneum-buried during the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in A.D. 79, then rediscovered in 1750-contained a large collection of bronze and marble statuary and busts. Before they were published or exhibited, the sculptures were restored so as to appear whole: it is thus that they helped to shape early modern tastes in classical sculpture. The book describes the nature of the ancient sculptures and their impact on the modern public. The Epicurean teacher and poet Philodemus of Gadara (c. 110-c. 40/35 BC) exercised significant literary and philosophical influence on Roman writers of the Augustan Age, most notably the poets Vergil and Horace. Yet a modern appreciation for Philodemus' place in Roman intellectual history has had to wait on the decipherment of the charred remains of Philodemus' library, which was buried in Herculaneum by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.
