Book Description
Not even rural West Virginia can hide the talents of a modern-day Mozart. Stephen is a thirteen-year-old ward of the state—and a runaway who knows exactly what he is and what he wants. He’s a gifted musician who wants a career in music. Who he is doesn’t seem important—until his foster parents refuse to believe in his musical gift. Now, the lack of a last name and need for a solid identity hover in his dreams. He grew up in a small town orphanage. His foster home of the past few months was in another small town. He’d left one and couldn’t go back to the other; the only place remaining was Clarkstowne—the big city a few miles away. He knew no one in Clarkstowne, yet he’d go there and search for someone who might understand his need. Stephen’s simple “I am what I am, I need what I need” will change the perceptions of many people, beginning with the conductor of a respected symphony orchestra, a lonely boy, the musicians with whom he interacts, the friends he makes along the way, and the caseworkers and state officials who must straighten out the controversy centering on him.

Our outstanding school community (parents, teachers, staff, community, administrators and students) made this Anthology come true! Thanks to I-Universe Publishing Co. for making our Anthology a reality. I am a true believer that every student has the capacity to excellence. We, as educators, are instruments to expose them to all types of learning experiences. Like John Dewey said, we learn by doing. The empowerment and self-confidence that each one of our students obtained through the planning-researching-creating-writing-editing-sharing-presenting to the community of their original written work, has been a marvelous experience, invaluable. I hope that you and your family enjoy our 1st Falcons Anthology. From whatever forum you are, please continue supporting our youth in to learning to manage and develop all their strengths toward a successful future. I want to convey our eagerness about writing, you can do the same thing! With your colleagues, students, family, between friends. Dance with words ... start writing today! Book Description
The cognitive science of religion that has emerged over the last twenty years is a multidisciplinary field that often challenges established theories in anthropology and comparative religion. This new approach raises many questions for biblical studies as well. What are the cross-cultural cognitive mechanisms which explain the transmission of biblical texts? How did the local and particular cultural traditions of ancient Israel and early Christianity develop? What does the embodied and socially embedded nature of the human mind imply for the exegesis of biblical texts? "Mind, Morality and Magic" draws on a range of approaches to the study of the human mind - including memory studies, computer modeling, cognitive theories of ritual, social cognition, evolutionary psychology, biology of emotions, and research on religious experience. The volume explores how cognitive approaches to religion can shed light on classical concerns in biblical scholarship - such as the transmission of traditions, ritual and magic, and ethics - as well as uncover new questions and offer new methodologies.

Book Description
Witchcraft and magic are topics of enduring interest for many reasons. The main one lies in their extraordinary interdisciplinarity: anthropologists, folklorists, historians, and more have contributed to build a body of work of extreme variety and consistence. Of course, this also means that the subjects themselves are not easy to assess. In a very general way, we can define witchcraft as a supernatural means to cause harm, death, or misfortune, while magic also belongs to the field of supernatural, or at least esoteric knowledge, but can be used to less dangerous effects (e.g., divination and astrology). In Western civilization, however, the witch hunt has set a very peculiar perspective in which diabolical witchcraft, the invention of the Sabbat, the persecution of many thousands of (mostly) female and (sometimes) male presumed witches gave way to a phenomenon that is fundamentally different from traditional witchcraft. This Special Issue of Religions dedicated to Witchcraft, Demonology, and Magic features nine articles that deal with four different regions of Europe (England, Germany, Hungary, and Italy) between Late Medieval and Modern times in different contexts and social milieus. Far from pretending to offer a complete picture, they focus on some topics that are central to the research in those fields and fit well in the current “cumulative concept of Western witchcraft” that rules out all mono-causality theories, investigating a plurality of causes.
