God directs her to go back to that point in her life when she began her relationship with Jesus Christ and was introduced to the Word of God. It was also at that point in her life when she really wanted a pair of skates that she worked so hard for but she never got. The story goes from there on through her High School, which she does not graduate from because she marries and becomes pregnant. She enters the United States Air Force and later reenlists. She goes on to become a Commissioned Officer and is retired early from Active Duty because she became disabled. After she and her family returned to Birmingham, Alabama, she eventually gets back to work before having another child. Afterwards, her brother, Josh, moves in on her mother and begins to sell drugs. Samantha knows this brother is selling drugs because she is buying drugs from him. Another brother, Rufus, becomes part of an unsuccessful marriage and ends up on crack cocaine and living on the streets. Samantha is having seizures due to the tremendous amount of stress she is under, which causes her to lose her drivers license, lose her job, and she feels as if she is losing her mind. She doesnt know where to turn. Samantha cries out to God. God tells her that what she is going through sounds like a great story. Without any provocation, God tells her if she writes this story, that He will bless it. Watch God do what He said He would do. God is not a man that He should lie nor the son of man that He should repent. Watch God do what He said He would do.

Don Laws
Author: Beverly Ann Menke
Publisher: Scarecrow Press
ISBN: 0810885352
Category : Sports & Recreation
Languages : en
Pages : 228
Book Description
At the 1984 Olympics, American Scott Hamilton skated into the history books when he claimed a gold medal in Sarajevo. Beside him the entire time was his coach, Don Laws. A member of the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame and a U.S. Junior Champion, Laws is one of the most respected and admired ice skating coaches in the world. In addition to Hamilton, Don was the coach of champions Michael Weiss and Patrick Chan. This authorized biography tells the story of Law’s exemplary life and chronicles his singular dedication to figure skating. Don Laws: The Life of an Olympic Figure Skating Coach recounts Don’s youth, from his childhood in Washington, D.C. to his Junior Men’s Figure Skating Championship to his triumphs as a coach on the international stage. Featuring personal interviews with many of his former pupils, this humorous and enlightening biography captures Don’s dedication to the sport and to his students. In addition, this book goes behind the scenes of the controversial new judging system—for which Laws was one of only four coaches worldwide to take part in its creation—as well as touches upon the break between Don Laws and his star pupil, Patrick Chan. Including exclusive interviews with Scott Hamilton, Michael Weiss, premier Russian coach Tamara Moskvina, former International Skating Union member Sonia Bianchetti, and current ISU President Ottavio Cinquanta, this book is a one-of-a-kind look at a man who never broke from his beliefs and ideals and never wavered in his love for the sport. A chapter devoted to skating techniques laid out by Laws will be a helpful tool for figure skating coaches; but for the figure skater, and for any fan of the sport, it will be the stories, interviews, photographs, and history that make this book entertaining and inspiring.

Bush Pilot
Author: Arnold Griese
Publisher: Publication Consultants
ISBN: 1594331359
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 403
Book Description
Harold Gillam Sr's story is presented with new clarity and balance. Bush Pilot describes a private, introspective man torn between family responsibilities and his unrelenting drive to pursue his goals in aviation. Early Alaska aviation did not rely on the actions of one single pilot but succeeded through the shared strength and will of many. Yet Gillam made significant contributions. The facts and details surrounding Gillam's adventures and some times "edge of the seat" flights keep readers involved from the first page through the controversy overshadowing his final tragic flight. Bush Pilot is an Alaska aviation adventure. Bush Pilot offers thought-provoking insights into Alaska's aviation history, and introduced me to its courageous and colorful pilots and other interesting characters -- many of whom had once been only names in the news during my growing up years here in the Interior. Val Scullion: Alaska grown. Bush Pilot is a well-researched account of an Alaska Pioneer aviator whose natural instincts and high degree of self-confidence help explain his success in off-airport operation and weather and instrument flying. Tom Hetherington: lifelong Alaskan, private pilot, and Alaska aviation history aficionado. In a book appealing to novice and experienced aviation buffs alike, Arnold Griese has brought new light to the life and legend of Harold Gillam. Full of new details about the famed Alaska bush pilot, Bush Pilot serves to demystify the events in Gillam's life while providing an excellent account of the early days in Alaska aviation history. Kenny Williams: a 20,000 hour airline pilot uses his Cessna 172 to reach prime hunting and fishing spots.
