Book Description
I Got Jokes and Anecdotes is a collection of funny moments that John Pechacek has observed, read about and concocted in his sometimes warped mind. For example, John points out that dogs lick themselves in their private areas, and their owners seemingly forget this and kiss the dogs on their mouths. He touches on subjects such as how movies that only six people saw win awards, and how an advantage of being a kid instead of an adult is you don't look stupid chasing the ice cream truck.

Book Description
The book consists of separate chapters and each of them has its own name that reflects the subject of its content. There are twenty five chapters in the book. The author was trying to make book as funny, entertaining and amusing as possible for different groups of people speaking English. Between its covers you will find a lot of information that reflects Russian life in the form of humor. Most jokes and anecdotes have been translated from Russian but some of them have been borrowed from English sources. Russian jokes were picked up from the author's friends and relatives, Russian TV and Internet radio programs, from Russian newspapers published in USA. Most of them are fresh and certainly reflect everyday life in Russia. Some jokes are related to the former Soviet Union. Readers, if you find some of the jokes inappropriate or abusive, just ignore them. It is well known that understanding foreign humor is often difficult for a number of reasons. Moreover, it takes time to completely understand some jokes because of the nature of the humor.

Book Description
Let there be no doubt, the stereotype is accurate: sales people, more than any other profession, truly love telling jokes and humorous stories. And considering the thousands of individuals they come into contact with throughout their careers, one fact is clear: if a career sales professional could somehow capture and save the best humorous anecdotes they had ever heard, an impressive stockpile of exceptional material would result. However, remembering all those jokes seems rather impossible, now doesn’t it? Not so, for that´s exactly what I´ve done, and the results are all there in Jokes & Stories from a Salesman´s Briefcase.

Book Description
“With this charming, sardonic debut, stand up comedian and actor Todd Barry makes readers laugh as hard as the audiences at his shows” (Publishers Weekly) in this hilarious book of travel essays from his time on tour in the US, Canada, and Israel. Hello. It’s Todd Barry. Yes, the massively famous comedian. I have billions of fans all over the world, so I do my fair share of touring. While I love doing shows in the big cities (New York, Philadelphia), I also enjoy a good secondary market (Ithaca, Bethlehem). Performing in these smaller places can be great because not all entertainers stop there on tour; they don’t expect to see you. They’re appreciative. They say things like “Thank you for coming to Hattiesburg” as much as they say “Nice show.” And almost every town has their version of a hipster coffee shop, so I can get in my comfort zone. My original plan was to book one secondary market show in all fifty states, in about a year, but that idea was funnier than anything in my act. So, instead of all fifty states in a year, my agent booked multiple shows in a lot of states, plus Israel and Canada. Thank You for Coming to Hattiesburg is part tour diary, part travel guide, and part memoir (Yes, memoir. Just like the thing presidents and former child stars get to write). Follow me on my journey of small clubs, and the occasional big amphitheater. Watch me make a promoter clean the dressing room toilet in Connecticut, see me stare at beached turtles in Maui, and see how I react when Lars from Metallica shows up to see me at a rec center in Northern California. I’d love to tell you more, but I need to go book a flight to Evansville, Indiana.

Book Description
If you like adult jokes, you'll love this book. Great for Parties! “I'd buy joke books and try doing them at school; I always had jokes. That would be my go-to thing at parties: I'd be able to get through them if I just told enough jokes. Otherwise, I wouldn't end up talking to anybody.” - Drew Carey Review from Alexander V. Ph.D. “I really enjoyed this book and I'm giving it high five. Of course, not all jokes in there gave me the jolt but there were many others which after reading still made me grin and giggle to myself like a doped Halloween pumpkin for quite a while. I have the suspicion some people around though I must have gone loony from too much work. So, the five stars are meant for those jokes. The jokes cover a broad range of topics and the reader will find a good one for just about any situation and conversation which will appeal for just about everyone. If you manage to memorize a few that would make it a handy addition to your arsenal of ice-breakers and conversation-rekindlers in case the situation seems completely frozen and awkward.” Excerpt: An international flight from Asia to the US was carrying 198 passengers but the crew, unfortunately, discovered an hour into the flight there were only 40 meals on the plane. After trying to figure out what to do, the Flight Crew came up with a solution. They advised the passengers, “We apologize to you and we are still trying to figure out how this occurred, but we have only 40 dinners on board, and we need to feed all 198 of you on this flight.” A loud muttering and moaning started amongst the passengers. The chief flight attendant continued to try and quiet everyone down, “Anyone who is kind enough to give up their dinner so someone else could eat, will receive unlimited free alcoholic beverages during the entire duration of the flight.” A second announcement was made two hours later, “If anyone wants to change their mind, we still have 40 dinners available.” All alphabetically arranged by topic, you’ll find a large assortment of enjoyable jokes, intriguing stories, thought-provoking quotes, and lots of humor in the 320+ pages. We leave the choice of jokes or stories you want to share up to you as individual humor and tastes vary. Sit back in a comfortable chair with your favorite beverage away from all distractions and get this book and enjoy reading this hilarious book!

Book Description
Most of the roughly 140,000 Holocaust survivors who came to the United States in the first decade after World War II settled in big cities such as New York. But a few thousand chose an alternative way of life on American farms. More of these accidental farmers wound up raising chickens in southern New Jersey than anywhere else. Speaking Yiddish to Chickens is the first book to chronicle this little-known chapter in American Jewish history when these mostly Eastern European refugees – including the author’s grandparents - found an unlikely refuge and gateway to new lives in the US on poultry farms. They gravitated to a section of south Jersey anchored by Vineland, a small rural city where previous waves of Jewish immigrants had built a rich network of cultural and religious institutions. This book relies on interviews with dozens of these refugee farmers and their children, as well as oral histories and archival records to tell how they learned to farm while coping with unimaginable grief. They built small synagogues within walking distance of their farms and hosted Yiddish cultural events more frequently found on the Lower East Side than perhaps anywhere else in rural America at the time. Like refugees today, they embraced their new American identities and enriched the community where they settled, working hard in unfamiliar jobs for often meager returns. Within a decade, falling egg prices and the rise of industrial-scale agriculture in the South would drive almost all of these novice poultry farmers out of business, many into bankruptcy. Some hated every minute here; others would remember their time on south Jersey farms as their best years in America. They enjoyed a quieter way of life and more space for themselves and their children than in the crowded New York City apartments where so many displaced persons settled. This is their remarkable story of loss, renewal, and perseverance in the most unexpected of settings. Author Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/YiddishtoChickens)

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • More than one million copies sold! A “brilliant” (Lupita Nyong’o, Time), “poignant” (Entertainment Weekly), “soul-nourishing” (USA Today) memoir about coming of age during the twilight of apartheid “Noah’s childhood stories are told with all the hilarity and intellect that characterizes his comedy, while illuminating a dark and brutal period in South Africa’s history that must never be forgotten.”—Esquire Winner of the Thurber Prize for American Humor and an NAACP Image Award • Named one of the best books of the year by The New York Time, USA Today, San Francisco Chronicle, NPR, Esquire, Newsday, and Booklist Trevor Noah’s unlikely path from apartheid South Africa to the desk of The Daily Show began with a criminal act: his birth. Trevor was born to a white Swiss father and a black Xhosa mother at a time when such a union was punishable by five years in prison. Living proof of his parents’ indiscretion, Trevor was kept mostly indoors for the earliest years of his life, bound by the extreme and often absurd measures his mother took to hide him from a government that could, at any moment, steal him away. Finally liberated by the end of South Africa’s tyrannical white rule, Trevor and his mother set forth on a grand adventure, living openly and freely and embracing the opportunities won by a centuries-long struggle. Born a Crime is the story of a mischievous young boy who grows into a restless young man as he struggles to find himself in a world where he was never supposed to exist. It is also the story of that young man’s relationship with his fearless, rebellious, and fervently religious mother—his teammate, a woman determined to save her son from the cycle of poverty, violence, and abuse that would ultimately threaten her own life. The stories collected here are by turns hilarious, dramatic, and deeply affecting. Whether subsisting on caterpillars for dinner during hard times, being thrown from a moving car during an attempted kidnapping, or just trying to survive the life-and-death pitfalls of dating in high school, Trevor illuminates his curious world with an incisive wit and unflinching honesty. His stories weave together to form a moving and searingly funny portrait of a boy making his way through a damaged world in a dangerous time, armed only with a keen sense of humor and a mother’s unconventional, unconditional love.

Book Description
“[In Pimp], Iceberg Slim breaks down some of the coldest, capitalist concepts I’ve ever heard in my life.” —Dave Chappelle, from his Nextflix special The Bird Revelation Pimp sent shockwaves throughout the literary world when it published in 1969. Iceberg Slim’s autobiographical novel offered readers a never-before-seen account of the sex trade, and an unforgettable look at the mores of Chicago’s street life during the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. In the preface, Slim says it best, “In this book, I will take you, the reader, with me into the secret inner world of the pimp.” An immersive experience unlike anything before it, Pimp would go on to sell millions of copies, with translations throughout the world. And it would have a profound impact upon generations of writers, entertainers, and filmmakers, making it the classic hustler’s tale that never seems to go out of style.
