Book Description
Hi, my name is Wilson Foo, the author of 31 Simple Stretches You Can Do At Your Desk. First of all, I’d like to congratulate you for obtaining this book. You now have before you an incredible resource to improve your work day and your physical health - 1 stretch for every day of every month. Now, you may be wondering to yourself, how can a few simple stretches make a great impact to your workday? Let me share with you how it has improved mine.Have you ever felt extremely tired while working at your desk? I certainly have. Before I started writing this book, I was a litigation lawyer. This job sometimes entailed long hours and a great deal of stress. The common perception of litigation lawyers is that we spend most of the day on our feet arguing in court. While that is partially true and oral arguments in courtrooms are indeed an integral part of the work, much of the time was actually spent at my desk, staring at the computer, poring through reams of documents and drafting written work.Sitting at the same position for a long time can leave us feeling extremely weary. Staring at a screen all day long also tends to strain the neck and back. Not having to move around means that our legs also don’t get much chance to stretch and we start to feel restless all the time.Even at home, I worked on some other projects of my own as well. I am also an app developer and have published some desktop, web and Android apps online. Spending long hours at the desk coding on the weekends made it even worse as I did not get a break from my sedentary lifestyle.I felt that I needed to contribute to the world by helping others in the same situation. Everybody who works, whether at home, or in an office, can benefit from stretching once in a while. This tends to relax our muscles and gives us better productivity. After a good stretch, your work may still be the same and perhaps nothing has changed - but everything has changed, because you feel more alert and able to tackle the challenges ahead. After stretching, I feel rejuvenated and refreshed, at least for the moment. As there are 31 stretches, you can do each stretch for every day in the month - or you can do one a day. The key is to do whatever suits you the most.May you ever be happy and relaxed as you stretch those muscles!

The Kinematics of Mixing

Book Description
In spite of its universality, mixing is poorly understood and generally speaking, mixing problems are attacked on a case-by-case basis. This is the first book to present a unified treatment of the mixing of fluids from a kinematical viewpoint. The author's aim is to provide a conceptually clear basis from which to launch analysis and to facilitate an understanding of the numerous mixing problems encountered in nature and technology. After presenting the necessary background in kinematics and fluid dynamics, Professor Ottino considers various examples of dealing with necessary background in dynamical systems and chaos. The book assumes little previous knowledge of fluid dynamics and dynamical systems and can be used as a textbook by final-year undergraduates, graduate students and researchers in applied mathematics, engineering science, geophysics and physics who have an interest in fluid dynamics, continuum mechanics and dynamical systems. It is profusely illustrated in colour, with many line diagrams and half-tones. Systems which illustrate the most important concepts, many exercises and examples are included.

Book Description
An updated edition of the best-selling guide on the science of effective stretching—with detailed anatomical illustrations and guidance on proper form, sports injury recovery, and more The multiple stresses of contemporary life—whether from excessive sports play, overwork, or overuse of technology—are increasingly taking a toll on the body. Symptoms range from muscle soreness and pain to pinched nerves to potentially more permanent disabilities, including serious body injuries. One safe, quickly productive way to address the problem is through a simple therapy that can be done anywhere, anytime, and without special equipment: stretching. This new edition of Brad Walker’s best-selling book on the subject presents 135 unique stretching exercises designed to help repair the body and make it more flexible, fit, and relaxed. Organized by body part, The Anatomy of Stretching presents stretching exercises in a uniform style accompanied by full-color anatomical illustrations. Equally useful for fitness fans, pro or amateur athletes, coaches and personal trainers, and healthcare practitioners, this new edition contains: • Step-by-step instructions for 20 new stretches • An expanded physiology and anatomy information • A revised numbering system that makes the stretches easier to reference • An expanded appendix with more resources on stretches for athletes and sports injuries Also featuring detailed descriptions of important principles of anatomy and physiology, The Anatomy of Stretching, Second Edition is the ultimate guide to improving flexibility, increasing strength, and relieving pain through stretching.

Book Description
This book provides an introduction to hyperbolic geometry in dimension three, with motivation and applications arising from knot theory. Hyperbolic geometry was first used as a tool to study knots by Riley and then Thurston in the 1970s. By the 1980s, combining work of Mostow and Prasad with Gordon and Luecke, it was known that a hyperbolic structure on a knot complement in the 3-sphere gives a complete knot invariant. However, it remains a difficult problem to relate the hyperbolic geometry of a knot to other invariants arising from knot theory. In particular, it is difficult to determine hyperbolic geometric information from a knot diagram, which is classically used to describe a knot. This textbook provides background on these problems, and tools to determine hyperbolic information on knots. It also includes results and state-of-the art techniques on hyperbolic geometry and knot theory to date. The book was written to be interactive, with many examples and exercises. Some important results are left to guided exercises. The level is appropriate for graduate students with a basic background in algebraic topology, particularly fundamental groups and covering spaces. Some experience with some differential topology and Riemannian geometry will also be helpful.

Book Description
Handbook of Grid Generation addresses the use of grids (meshes) in the numerical solutions of partial differential equations by finite elements, finite volume, finite differences, and boundary elements. Four parts divide the chapters: structured grids, unstructured girds, surface definition, and adaption/quality. An introduction to each section provides a roadmap through the material. This handbook covers: Fundamental concepts and approaches Grid generation process Essential mathematical elements from tensor analysis and differential geometry, particularly relevant to curves and surfaces Cells of any shape - Cartesian, structured curvilinear coordinates, unstructured tetrahedra, unstructured hexahedra, or various combinations Separate grids overlaid on one another, communicating data through interpolation Moving boundaries and internal interfaces in the field Resolving gradients and controlling solution error Grid generation codes, both commercial and freeware, as well as representative and illustrative grid configurations Handbook of Grid Generation contains 37 chapters as well as contributions from more than 100 experts from around the world, comprehensively evaluating this expanding field and providing a fundamental orientation for practitioners.

Nietzsche's System

Book Description
This book argues, against recent interpretations, that Nietzsche does in fact have a metaphysical system--but that this is to his credit. Rather than renouncing philosophy's traditional project, he still aspires to find and state essential truths, both descriptive and valuative, about us and the world. These basic thoughts organize and inform everything he writes; by examining them closely we can find the larger structure and unifying sense of his strikingly diverse views. With rigor and conceptual specificity, Richardson examines the will-to-power ontology and maps the values that emerge from it. He also considers the significance of Nietzsche's famous break with Plato--replacing the concept of "being" with that of "becoming." By its conservative method, this book tries to do better justice to the truly radical force of Nietzsche's ideas--to demonstrate more exactly their novelty and interest.
