They have an air of self-assurance about them, and while they may be aloof or reticent with outsiders, they are fiercely loyal to their loved ones. They are a breed known for their intelligence and independence; therefore training and socialization may take some time. - Curly-Coated Retrievers are expert retrievers since they were originally designed for hunting ducks. Their water-resistant coat makes them particularly adept at collecting prey from bodies of water.
