Book Description
" In 1978, China launched economic reforms that have resulted in one of history’s most dramatic national transformations. The reforms removed bureaucratic obstacles to economic growth and tapped China’s immense reserves of labor and entrepreneurial talent to unleash unparalleled economic growth in the country. In the four decades since, China has become the world’s second-largest economy after the United States, and a leading force in international trade and investment. As the contributors to this volume show, China also faces daunting challenges in sustaining growth, continuing its economic ransformation, addressing the adverse consequences of economic success, and dealing with mounting suspicion from the United States and other trade and investment partners. China also confronts risks stemming from the project to expand its influence across the globe through infrastructure investments and other projects under the Belt and Road Initiative. At the same time, China’s current leader, Xi Jinping, appears determined to make his own lasting mark on the country and on China’s use of its economic clout to shape the world around it. "

Book Description
What is that lyric in that one song? “The lure of easy money has a very strong appeal”. Maybe you decided to get into the day trading business of investing and/or investing and trading because you saw some late-night TV commercial about day trading with flashy offers. Perhaps you received a spam e-mail touting some day trading method or system that said you could make easy money in the markets; I suggest you reconsider if that’s the case. Death by Day Trading is for all beginning aspiring investors and traders who are just getting their head around doing the day trading business who go online and do a search to find information on how to do financial market trading and it should be the first book a brand new beginner reads before any other books on trading as far as I’m concerned and will be the most harsh and brutal day trading book they have ever read. Everyone has their own ideas of what they think day trading is and what it can do for them; you need to look at it from a realistic perspective from the start and Death by Day Trading is absolutely going to help you to do that. This book is for beginners and will detail many of the things that a brand new trader must learn not to do before they can become consistently profitable in the live markets. You’re heard the saying “just say no to drugs”, just say no to day trading and you and your account will be waaaaay ahead of the game to start off. Don’t say I didn’t warn you, OK, continue with your insanity and read the entire book to give yourself a fighting chance. Death by Day Trading can help you keep it simple and filter the huge amount of information out there down to only what you need to know right away and then can work towards adding more information and studies as you go. My trading philosophy is to start small and build on success have limited exposure while you hone your skills, then progress as you become more competent. You can use Death by Day Trading and the references, suggestions and tips in it to go further into your educational studies of the markets and there dynamics. Knowing market dynamics is going to be critical for you to have the winning edge you will need to be a successful market participant. By studying what this book suggests you will not become one of the 97% of the sheeple of the herd, don’t become one of them.

To become a rich housekeeper is just three words but I put huge sense in them. Many people think of housekeepers as women who forgot about their being long time ago and are entirely occupied with care of children and family, and yes, of course, in an old washed-off dressing gown, worn-out slippers and with hair-rollers on their head...

Islamic Political Identity in Turkey
Author: M. Hakan Yavuz
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0195160851
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 343
Book Description
In November of 2002, the Justice and Development Party swept to victory in the Turkish parliamentary elections. Because of the party's Islamic roots, its electoral triumph has sparked a host of questions both in Turkey and in the West: Does the party harbor a secret Islamist agenda? Will the new government seek to overturn nearly a century of secularization stemming from Kemal Ataturk's early-twentieth-century reforms? Most fundamentally, is Islam compatible with democracy? In this penetrating work, M. Hakan Yavuz seeks to answer these questions, and to provide a comprehensive analysis of Islamic political identity in Turkey. He begins in the early twentieth century, when Kemal Ataturk led Turkey through a process of rapid secularization and crushed Islamic opposition to his authoritarian rule. Yavuz argues that, since Ataturk's death in 1938, however, Turkey has been gradually moving away from his militant secularism and experiencing "a quiet Muslim reformation." Islamic political identity is not homogeneous, says Yavuz, but can be modern and progressive as well as conservative and potentially authoritarian. While the West has traditionally seen Kemalism as an engine for reform against "reactionary" political Islam, in fact the Kemalist establishment has traditionally used the "Islamic threat" as an excuse to avoid democratization and thus hold on to power. Yavuz offers an account of the "soft coup" of 1997, in which the Kemalist military-bureaucratic establishment overthrew the democratically elected coalition government, which was led by the pro-Islamic Refah party. He argues that the soft coup plunged Turkey into a renewed legitimacy crisis which can only be resolved by the liberalization of the political system. The book ends with a discussion of the most recent election and its implications for Turkey and the Muslim world.Yavuz argues that Islamic social movements can be important agents for promoting a democratic and pluralistic society, and that the Turkish example holds long term promise for the rest of the Muslim world. Based on extensive fieldwork and interviews, this work offers a sophisticated new understanding of the role of political Islam in one of the world's most strategically important countries.

Doing Business in 2005
Author:
Publisher: World Bank Publications
ISBN: 9780821357484
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 164
Book Description
Doing Business in 2005: Obstacles to Growth is the second in a series of annual reports investigating the scope and manner of regulations that enhance business activity and those that constrain it. New quantitative indicators on business regulations and their enforcement can be compared across more than 130 countries, and over time. The indicators are used to analyze economic outcomes and identify what reforms have worked, where and why. Topics in Doing Business in 2005 include: Licensing and Inspections: Having registered a business, now what? In most countries, firms face a myriad of sector specific licenses as well as inspections to enforce compliance. The Doing Business database constructs two sets of indicators on the regulation of operations. One measures the steps, time and costs of complying with licensing and permit requirements for ongoing. The other assesses the enforcement of regulations through two of the most common types of inspections-labor and tax. Registering Property: Property registries were first developed to help raise tax revenue. What was good for the tax authorities has since proven to be good for strengthening property rights-the registries strengthen incentives to invest, facilitate trade, and expand access to credit. New indicators cover the steps, time and cost to register property. Measures of the legal provisions that strengthen property rights and the efficiency of property registries are also developed. Protecting Investors: Corporate governance issues are often thought to affect only publicly listed companies in developed countries. In fact, corporate governance is relevant for every large privately held company that has more than one owner. New indicators examine several possible types of shareholder expropriation, including related-party transactions, guarantees and loans to company managers and directors, mergers and acquisitions, disclosure of ownership information, and treatment of conflicts of interest. Including a new emphasis on gender, Doing Business not only provides insights into business constraints throughout the world but highlights particular barriers faced by women. Doing Business is a comprehensive resource that no investor, economic adviser, business developer, or economic policymaker should be without.
