The early guitar was smaller and more profound than the advanced guitar, with a less pronounced abdomen. It was firmly identified with the visual, the guitar-molded instrument played in Spain instead of the lute. The guitar initially had four courses of strings, three twofold, the top course single, that ran from a violin-like peg box to a pressure connect stuck to the soundboard, or midsection; the extension hence supported the immediate draw of the strings. In the tummy was a roundabout sound opening, regularly ornamented with a cut wooden rose.
