Excerpt from History of the Old Greyfriars' Church Edinburgh Old building has been compiled at the instigation of my friend and pastor, the Rev. A. B. Grant, b.d., the present incumbent. The recent discovery of an early portion of Wariston's Diary has upset the conventional story of the subscribing of the National Covenant, and, in the circum stances, I appealed to my learned friend, Dr. Hay Fleming, the discoverer of that manuscript, to undertake the writing of a Special chapter on a subject on which he is a recognised authority.
