Book Description
This 250 page book is a detailed, completely factual local history of the Big Laramie River Valley in southeastern Wyoming. It is the first comprehensive history of the area covered, and includes the story of the "Cummins City Caper," wherein a gold mining scam occurred in 1880-81 by one John Cummins. It covers the history of the entire 4 mile long valley, including old Cummins City, Old Jelm, New Jelm, Woods Landing, and El Rancho Pequeno (where the author was raised) from prior to the Civil War until about 1930, with numerous pictures, maps and period articles and stories. It was a 27 year long "labor of love," and is a reference work as well as the story of a beautiful valley and a historical era. The index is extensive, as is the bibliography. John W. Cummins, the protagonist, victimized a number of people, and his detailed, insofar as seems possible, including extensive quotes from depositions taken in 1881, sealed with wax, and uncovered and opened for the first time by the author in 1988, confirming and filling out details of the author's story.

Book Description
This 250 page, 8" x 11" book is a local history of the Big Laramie River Valley, Jelm and Woods Landing, all lying at the foot of Jelm Mountain in southeastern Wyoming. In 1880, a "white-whiskered con man" named John Cummins pulled a scam resulting in the rise and fall of Cummins City, now known a ghost town known as Old Jelm. But there is more to the story than just the "Cummins City Caper," as the author calls the scam. A thriving community, centered at Woods Landing, now extends up and down the four-mile long valley. A sourcebook as well as a history, the book covers the period from the Civil War until 1930. It contains numerous pictures (most black and white, but some color), maps, stories, records and detailed source material. The index is extensive. This edition is color. A black and white edition is also available.

Book Description
The 52 papers in this vary in content from summaries or state-of-knowledge treatments, to detailed contributions that describe new species. Although the distinction is subtle, the title (Vertebrate Paleontology in Utah) indicates the science of paleontology in the state of Utah, rather than the even more ambitious intent if it were given the title “Vertebrate Paleontology of Utah” which would promise an encyclopedic treatment of the subject. The science of vertebrate paleontology in Utah is robust and intense. It has grown prodigiously in the past decade, and promises to continue to grow indefinitely. This research benefits everyone in the state, through Utah’s muse ums and educational institutions, which are the direct beneficiaries.

Book Description
Based on a study of 256 exemplary community college presidents, this book examines the attributes of outstanding leaders and their ability to orchestrate organizational change. Chapter 1 provides the background for the study, emphasizes the importance of leadership, and identifies attributes common to transformational leaders; that is, leaders who work with their followers so that each raises the other to higher levels of motivation and morality. Chapter 2 summarizes leadership theory and offers a discussion of transformational leadership and its place in a rapidly changing society. After chapter 3 reviews the study methodology, chapters 4 and 5 present findings on the demographic and leadership characteristics of the presidents selected for in-depth study. Chapters 6 through 10 discuss key elements of transformational leadership, including shared vision, teamwork and collaborative decision making, institutional climate and the relationship between the institution and the individuals within it, motivation as a means of achieving followers' acceptance of the shared vision, and personal values, integrity, and commitment to learning. Chapter 11 examines women in community college leadership roles. Finally, chapter 12 presents a summary of the research, a discussion of the problems faced by minority leaders, and a review of study implications. The survey instruments and an eighty-five-item bibliography are appended.
