Book Description
This book describes 2015 and 2016 hiking and camping activities in Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. The hiking season started on 3 October 2015 with a hike from Long Canyon Road up Dry Creek and on into HS Canyon; it ended on 28 May with a combined hike to the Lookout on Apache Maid Mountain and then to the nearby site of the old T-Bar Ranch. Other hikes included were sections of General Crook Trail at Thirteen-Mile Rock Butte and to Kehl Spring along the Mogollon Rim, several hikes in the southern Black Hills Mountains, a trip to Geronimo's Spring and Cabin by way of a little-known trail from the top of Mingus Mountain, an exploration of the horse trails between Lower Red Rock Loop Road and Gooseneck Bend, a hike to Kendrick Peak by way of the Firewatcher Shortcut and a number other hikes in the Verde Valley Area.Near the end of the season, we camped out at Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in Utah and hiked Cockscomb Ridge to view the gorgeous, multicolored upended hills and rocks exposed by erosion in the uplift area of the East Kaibab Monocline. We then visited the site of the lost town of Pahreah on the bank of the Paria River, hiked down Wire Pass Gulch to Buckskin Gulch and visited the California Condor Viewing Area

Book Description
An account of hiking and camping in Northern Arizona, starting with a hike to Jeronimo's Cabin on Mingus Mountain on 2 July 2014 and ending with a hike to Taylor Cabin in Sycamore Canyon on 3 May 2015. Other hikes included range from Slate Mountain Trail northwest of Flagstaff to Little Wolf Creek Trail in the Bradshaw Mountains south of Mayer and from The Verde River Headwaters in Chino Valley in the west to General Spring on the Mogollon Rim to the east. In between these outlying boundaries are descriptions of hikes in the Red Rock Country around Sedona and in the Verde Valley, on both sides of Mingus Mountain and along the Mogollon Rim.Finally, similar to my last book, Hiking in Northern Arizona - 2013/2014, which included two hikes in Wales, I have chosen to include two days of a three-week trip to England and Scotland in this book. They are accounts of a visit to Stonehenge, nearby Avebury Henge and West Kennet Long barrow in Wiltshire County, England and a walking trip from downtown Edinburgh to the Scottish Parliament Building, Holyrood Castle and Holyrood Park in Scotland. These were not strictly speaking hikes, but I enjoyed them tremendously.

That's to say nothing of the breadth of experiences (from sandy desert floor to steep mountainside and riparian environment) awaiting you; or the detailed trail descriptions with tips on where Hollywood movies were filmed and background on old cabins and mines. Regions include the Phoenix, Sedona, Tucson/southern Arizona, and Flagstaff/northeastern Arizona areas; the Grand Canyon (north and south rims) and Petrified Forest National Parks; and Organ Pipe and Chiracahua National Monuments.
