Book Description
One of the themes of the 20th International Congress of Entomology held in Florence in August 1996 was ecology and population dynamics, with papers presented on single species dynamics, population interactions, and community ecology. This text contains a selection of the papers that were presented, and gives and late-1990s picture of the developing area. It should be of interest to biometricians and general population ecolgists, as well as entomologists.

Book Description
The Forest Service and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), as co-lead agencies, propose to supplement the 1996 Record of Decision (ROD) for the 1995 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS): Gypsy Moth Management in the United States: a cooperative approach. The Forest Service and APHIS are proposing to add new treatment options, which are described in Section 4 on the Alternatives Considered. New treatments that were not available when the 1995 EIS was written would provide gypsy moth managers with more flexibility in conducting suppression, eradication, and slow-the-spread projects. Making new treatments available is also expected to improve the gypsy moth management program, because each new treatment developed over the last 30 years has proven to be safer, more cost-efficient, easier to use, and often more effective than older treatments. The supplement also provides new information on the gypsy moth and treatments since the 1995 EIS.

Book Description
Pest management has long been a problem for farmers worldwide and new techniques are continually being developed to reduce the adverse effects of pest populations. The use of areawide pest management has increased dramatically over the past decade and offers potential advantages to traditional and more localized approaches. Suppression over a broad area can reduce re-infestation of previously treated areas and the specific pest management techniques may be more effective when applied over larger areas. Providing the first comprehensive discussion of areawide pest management, this book will explore the theoretical development and implementation of techniques from a worldwide perspective. Areas covered include history and development, biological and ecological impacts and recent case studies of pest management programmes.
