Excerpt from Grundriss der Pharmakologie in Bezug auf Arzneimittellehre und Toxikologie Der vorliegende Gsrundriss der Pharmakologie bildet zugleich die 4. Anklage des im J. 1883 in erster Auflage erschienenen Grundrisses der Arzneimittellehre. Der jetzige Titel ware schon fur die fruheren Auflagen ein zutreffender gewesen, und die Ver anderung braucht deshalb nicht besonders begrundet zu werden. Es genugt darauf hinzuweisen, dass die Toxikologie eine etwas grossere Berucksichtigung gefunden hat, und dass den blossen Autorennamen und Jahreszahlen eine Anzahl Literaturnachweise beigefugt ist, deren Auswahl thunlichst so getroffen wurde, dass von ihnen aus leicht eine weitere, eingehendere Uebersicht uber die Arbeiten, insbesondere auch der auslandischen Autoren, ge wonnen werden kann. Das Buch ist dazu bestimmt, dem studirenden Mediciner die Erlangung pharmakologischer Kenntnisse zu erleichtern und dem pharmakologisch vorgebildeten Arzt die neueren Errungenschaften auf diesem Gebiete des Wissens zuganglich zu machen. Es soll aber nicht dem Lernenden die Vorlesungen uber Pharn1akologie ersetzen. Das vermag ein Buch auf diesem Gebiete ebensowenig, wie bei der Erlangung chemischer, physikalischen physiologischer und anderer Kenntnisse Ein Lehrbuch im Sinne autodidaktischen Unterrichts kann es also nicht sein. So scharf einerseits der Weg vorgeschrieben ist, den die streng wissenschaftliche pharmakologische Forschung einzuschlagen hat, um ihr Ziel zu erreichen, so schwierig gestaltet sich andererseits die Aufgabe, die Erlangung pharmakologischer Kenntnisse fur praktische Zwecke zu vermitteln.
