Book Description
Like the previous volumes, I'm sure there will be something in here for everybody. Whether it be a pleasant memory from your childhood or a sad memory that taught you a valuable lesson or something funny to brighten up your gloomy day, I am pretty confident you will find it here. And as always, I had a real blast sitting back and creating some memories for you. I honestly can't think of anything more pleasant and interesting and heart-warming than to sit back in the comfort of my own home and type up stories taken from my own memories of my life growing up here and being able to share them with you, and for you to be able to create your own memories just from reading mine. Something like this is a gift, and shouldn't be wasted. Sometimes, life is too short, and it would be a shame to think that I didn't put some of my talent to good use, and make myself - and someone else - smile, if only for a brief moment. If you are lucky enough - or as in my case, blessed enough with the knack for making others smile - it shouldn't be ignored.

Book Description
I always enjoy looking back on my memories of growing up in Vincennes, Indiana. No matter how many things change as the years fly by, I will always look back fondly upon my time here in V-Town, and I hope this series of stories will spark a happy memory for you, too. Some of these stories may elicit a tear, some laughter. Some might invoke memories of your first true love - or what my Mom would refer to as "puppy love," or, perhaps better yet, "youthful infatuation." Some may remind you of an old friend you haven't seen since high school - or, sadly, one that has passed in recent years. Some may remind you of your childhood, your teenage years - or having to bid them farewell, in order to move on to bigger and better things; marriage, children, grandchildren, and a lifetime of wonderful memories that only a tight-knit, loving family can provide. Regardless of how these stories may affect you, I am sure that everyone in my hometown will find something in these pages to make you smile.

Book Description
All of the stories in this book are important to me. All of them stem from my own personal memories and life experiences growing up here in Vincennes. Whether good or bad memories it doesn't matter; they were all a big part part of my life growing up here, and none of them are any less important than the next one. What I've found to be really interesting - and even a bit flattering at times, too - was the fact that I've always managed to spark a happy memory for my readers within my first three volumes, and I'm hoping that the stories in this book will help to spark a happy memory for someone again. We are all the same, you and I, within the overall scheme of life. We may have come from totally different backgrounds or been born on a different side of town or hung out with a different crowd. But we are all only human, with human emotions and feelings and memories and enjoy reliving those old memories now and then, if only for a brief period of time. Things have changed so much since I was a kid, I relish the idea of closing my eyes and thinking back on a happier time when life was so much more simple and fun and safe and happy. And if my stories can help someone else to relive their own happy memories, I am more than happy to help out. As you have already noticed, I'm quite sure, I don't use any big fancy words or put on any airs to make a good impression on anyone. I'm just ME, for better or worse, a simple man, a baby boomer with a lot of memories and opinions to share with others about times and subjects that are dear to all of our hearts. I hope that's good enough for my readers, because I think these stories will surely touch someone in one way or another. I guess we'll see, huh?

Book Description
A lot of professors give talks titled 'The Last Lecture'. Professors are asked to consider their demise and to ruminate on what matters most to them: What wisdom would we impart to the world if we knew it was our last chance? If we had to vanish tomorrow, what would we want as our legacy? When Randy Pausch, a computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, was asked to give such a lecture, he didn't have to imagine it as his last, since he had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. But the lecture he gave, 'Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams', wasnt about dying. It was about the importance of overcoming obstacles, of enabling the dreams of others, of seizing every moment (because time is all you have and you may find one day that you have less than you think). It was a summation of everything Randy had come to believe. It was about living. In this book, Randy Pausch has combined the humour, inspiration, and intelligence that made his lecture such a phenomenon and given it an indelible form. It is a book that will be shared for generations to come.

Book Description
This volume - just like the second volume - is somewhat different in theme than the first one. Whereas the first volume featured a variety of subjects, some of them even having to do with world events, this volume tends to lean in a totally different direction, some of the stories focusing on subjects more personal to us all, the stories more humble or grounded in the reality of life no matter how hard it may to deal with at times.Regardless of which category these stories may fall into, I am sure, once again, there will be a little something for everyone here, and I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them for you.Among the subjects profiled in this volume are: Support Our Local Police! Book Description
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “Stranger Things meets the South. Chilling, hilarious, and suspenseful—I loved it!”—Felicia Day From the authors of Rhett & Link's Book of Mythicality and creators of Good Mythical Morning . . . It’s 1992 in Bleak Creek, North Carolina—a sleepy little place with all the trappings of an ordinary Southern town: two Baptist churches, friendly smiles coupled with silent judgments, and an unquenchable appetite for pork products. Beneath the town’s cheerful façade, however, Bleak Creek teens live in constant fear of being sent to the Whitewood School, a local reformatory with a history of putting unruly youths back on the straight and narrow—a record so impeccable that almost everyone is willing to ignore the suspicious deaths that have occurred there over the past decade. At first, high school freshmen Rex McClendon and Leif Nelson believe what they’ve been told: that the students’ strange demises were all just tragic accidents, the unfortunate consequence of succumbing to vices like Marlboro Lights and Nirvana. But when the shoot for their low-budget horror masterpiece, PolterDog, goes horribly awry—and their best friend, Alicia Boykins, is sent to Whitewood as punishment—Rex and Leif are forced to question everything they know about their unassuming hometown and its cherished school for delinquents. Eager to rescue their friend, Rex and Leif pair up with recent NYU film school graduate Janine Blitstein to begin piecing together the unsettling truth of the school and its mysterious founder, Wayne Whitewood. What they find will leave them battling an evil beyond their wildest imaginations—one that will shake Bleak Creek to its core. Praise for The Lost Causes of Bleak Creek “The Lost Causes of Bleak Creek is like your best friend from high school—kind of weird and a little twisted, but no matter how much trouble they caused, they always made you laugh. You don’t have to be a GMM fan to realize . . . The Lost Causes of Bleak Creek, Will It Awesome Book? F@*# yeah!”—Kurt Sutter, creator of Sons of Anarchy “Most people don’t read books, let alone write them. That puts Rhett and Link in the top 1% of smart people in the world. Read this book.”—Rachel Bloom, co-creator of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend “It’s scary, it’s fun, and it’s one hell of a carnival ride.”—Kirkus Reviews

Book Description
I was born in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. My dad was a freedom fighter, waging war for an independent state: South Sudan. We lived in a small country town, in the deep south of Western Australia. I never knew black people could be Muslim until I met my North African friends. My mum and my dad courted illegally under the Apartheid regime. My first impression of Australia was a housing commission in the north of Tasmania. Somalis use this term, “Dhaqan Celis”. “Dhaqan” means culture and “Celis” means return. Learning to kick a football in a suburban schoolyard. Finding your feet as a young black dancer. Discovering your grandfather’s poetry. Meeting Nelson Mandela at your local church. Facing racism from those who should protect you. Dreading a visit to the hairdresser. House- hopping across the suburbs. Being too black. Not being black enough. Singing to find your soul, and then losing yourself again. Welcome to African Australia. Compiled by award-winning author Maxine Beneba Clarke, with curatorial assistance from writers Ahmed Yussuf and Magan Magan, this anthology brings together voices from the regions of Africa and the African diaspora, including the Caribbean and the Americas. Told with passion, power and poise, these are the stories of African-diaspora Australians. Contributors include Faustina Agolley, Santilla Chingaipe, Carly Findlay, Khalid Warsame, Nyadol Nyuon, Tariro Mavondo and many, many more. ‘A deeply moving and unforgettable read – there is something to learn from each page. FOUR AND A HALF STARS’ —Books+Publishing ‘A complex tapestry of stories specific in every thread and illuminating as a whole ... The wonderful strength of this anthology lies in the easily understood and the never imagined.’ —Readings ‘In the face of structural barriers to health care, education, housing and employment, the narratives in Growing Up African are tempered with stories of deep courage, hope, resilience and endurance.’ —The Conversation ‘Growing Up African in Australia is almost painfully timely. It speaks to the richness of a diaspora that is all too often deprived of its nuances ... Lively, moving, and often deeply affecting, it is an absolute must-read. FOUR AND A HALF STARS’ —The AU Review
