Minimum Safety Requirements for Special Purpose Airline Ground Support Equipment
Author: AGE-3 Aircraft Ground Support Equipment Committee
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 0
Book Description
This document applies to special purpose equipment which is used in the ground handling, servicing, and maintenance of transport aircraft. Fixed airport facilities and equipment covered under other sections of Part 1910 of Code of Federal Regulations (OSHA) are excluded from the scope of this document. Despite several attempts to revise this document it has not been possible to do it as the resources and the needed expertise were not available in the AGE-2C committee. Intent of the committee for a future revision would be to make a major update and harmonisation with EN 1915-1 and ISO 6966-2 standards. Therefore, until the time comes when such revision can be done, the document is put in the "Stabilized" category.

Electric Ground Support Equipment at Airports
Author:
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 0
Book Description
Airport ground support equipment (GSE) is used to service airplanes between flights. Services include refueling, towing airplanes or luggage/freight carts, loading luggage/freight, transporting passengers, loading potable water, removing sewage, loading food, de-icing airplanes, and fire-fighting. Deploying new GSE technologies is a promising opportunity in part because the purchasers are generally large, technologically sophisticated airlines, contractors, or airports with centralized procurement and maintenance departments. Airlines could particularly benefit from fuel diversification since they are highly exposed to petroleum price volatility. GSE can be particularly well-suited for electrification because it benefits from low-end torque and has frequent idle time and short required ranges.
